135. Running Away

Alex wants to attack Grimoire Heart's airship again, but he chooses to inform his Guild Mates first. He runs there in the Mini Kokuo form, passing through trees at a very high speed and arriving at the camp in a short time.

"You're back. How is it?" Makarov quickly asks when Alex arrives.

"Not good. It's a very troublesome enemy and there are more enemies coming here."

Everyone is surprised to hear it because Alex doesn't try to hide what he says. He thinks that all of them need to know this as quickly as possible because the enemies are really troublesome.

"For the time being, I've thrown the one who intruded this place out of the island. But I have a strong feeling that he'll come back and the others who come for him will also come here."

"Do you know who they are?"

"Yeah, the man who intruded on this island before was Zeref and the other enemies are Grimoire Heart Mages."

Most of them widen their eyes in surprise when they hear about Zeref. After all, he is very infamous and known as the most evil Mage in the history of mankind. So knowing that he is here surely shocks them, though some people don't know who he is.

"Zeref and Grimoire Heart on top of that. This surely is not a light matter. We'll halt the exam now and leave this island. Just Zeref alone is already too dangerous, not to mention there's Grimoire Heart too." Makarov makes his decision quickly.

Some hot-heads like Natsu and Gajeel propose that they fight the enemies. But Makarov won't budge no matter what because it is just too dangerous. The S-Classes agree with him because Zeref alone is already a serious threat to their lives.

"Yeah, let's just leave them to the Magic Council squads that are coming here. You've called them, right, intruder sent by the Council?"

Alex asks while looking at Mest, prompting everyone else to look at Mest too. Everyone is surprised because Alex doesn't tell anyone about Mest's "real" identity and even Mest is surprised because Alex finds it out.

"Y-you know? Since when?"

"What if I told you, from the beginning? Memory Manipulation, making everyone think you are our Guild Member and someone good enough to be an S-Class. Too bad it doesn't work on me and I'm sure it doesn't fully work on the others here. All of them must've had some strange feelings about your presence. But it's enough as long as you can come here to investigate us. Right now, you might be thinking of using Zeref's and Grimoire Heart's appearances to get a big achievement. I'm not sure whether you want to make a false report by saying that Fairy Tail has connections with Zeref and Grimoire Heart or say the truth. But I'm inclined to the 1st assumption because it will make your achievement bigger by exposing a Legal Guild that has connections with Zeref and a Dark Guild. Or maybe you will just report it as you found Zeref on Tenrou Island and let the higher ups assume by themselves which will incline more to us being connected with Zeref. After all, it's easy for the Council to decide whether something is black or white. Then if people protest because it's wrong, you simply just need to apologize, right? But well, I don't care about your report. I just need you to call reinforcement to handle those guys when we escape. If the Council decides to make us criminals, then I simply just need to destroy the Council because there's no rule to hold me back anymore."

Alex has destroyed a lot of Dark Guilds which really help the Council and his Guild Mates' behaviors have become much better now. They don't cause too much destruction and be more careful while working.

Yet the Council is still biased toward them because of their past records. Some higher ups already hate Fairy Tail, after all, which makes their opinions biased. But Fairy Tail hasn't done any crime, that's why they can't disband the Guild with their authority or the other Guilds will attack them out of fear that the Council will do the same to their Guilds.

After being exposed by Alex, Mest immediately escapes using his Teleportation Magic. Some want to chase him, but Alex stops them, saying that it's more important to think about how they'll handle the incoming enemies, and he agrees that it's best for them to escape.

If they escape the island quickly, then they won't need to fight Acnologia and won't need to freeze in time for 7 years. For Alex, this is the best way to save everyone and make a much better future. 7 years are a long time and they shouldn't waste it by doing nothing.

Just thinking about how strong they'll become if they don't freeze in time for 7 years is enough to make Alex grins from ear to ear. But that can only be achieved if they can escape from this island before Acnologia arrives.

'That's right, we can just leave before anything happens. Why didn't I think of that?'

Alex feels stupid, even though he really is, for not even thinking of just running away before Acnologia comes. If Acnologia does come later, then that damn Black Dragon can fight Grimoire Heart and wipe them out while Fairy Tail escapes to the mainland.

There's no need to worry about their lives if they aren't in danger to begin with. He just needs a strong enough reason for them to escape from this island and Zeref's appearance with Grimoire Heart on top of that seems to be enough.

But of course, it won't go as easy as Alex thinks.

"Alex, where are the enemies?" Makarov asks while Alex feels a little relieved they have a way out of this.

"In the North East, some kilometers away from the island." Alex answers in a rather good mood, but Makarov's expression doesn't look good when hearing that answer.

"Seems like it will be difficult to run away." Makarov sighs.

"Huh? Why?" Alex is confused.

"Our ship is in the North and the mainland is in the North as well." It's Gildarts who answers and it makes Alex's eyes widen.

"Tsk! How troublesome."

Some of them don't understand, so Mira explains to them that they will basically approach the enemies. They will go to the North while the enemies are in the North East, so they'll get closer to the enemies instead of going away.

"Then I'll take them down or at least make them busy until the ship passes." Alex makes a proposal.

"What?! You alone?"

"Yeah, I can fly, so I can approach their airship."

"Then I'll go too. Happy can take me to fly." Natsu wants to join in.

"No, Zeref is on that airship. He has the ability that can instantly kill any living beings around him. But for some unknown reason, it doesn't affect me. I can't guarantee that it won't affect you and Happy, so I can't let you join me."

They are surprised when Alex tells them about Zeref's death wave. It's hard to do, but Makarov agrees to let Alex fight Grimoire Heart and Zeref alone. He orders Alex to retreat once the ship has gotten away safely.

"Understood. I will retreat once I make sure you guys have reached a safe distance."

The group quickly goes to the coast where their ship is docked. Alex keeps using his magic sense to make sure the enemies are still far away. He also needs to check if Lily and Carla are coming because they are supposed to come soon after being suspicious of Mest, but they haven't come.

In a short time, they reach the coast and get on the ship. They move fast because they left most of their luggage behind on the camp. There's no way they'll have time to pack things like tents and other camping equipment in this emergency situation.

Fortunately too, no one stubbornly wants to continue the exam like Cana in the series. She is already an S-Class now and has revealed the truth to her father too. So she won't do the same thing as in the series.

As for Mest, Alex doesn't need to worry about him because he can teleport to escape anytime. Besides, Mest is still under his own Memory Manipulation Magic that makes him a loyal member of the Magic Council now, so it'll be difficult to talk with him.

Soon, the ship sets sail and leaves Tenrou Island in a hurry. Natsu and Gajeel feel sick on the ship, but no one is bothered to tease them now. They need to leave as quickly as possible, after all, so they focus on moving the ship at max speed.

Wendy is not feeling sick because she uses a spell on herself to prevent it. Makarov told her to only use it on herself because she will need to use a lot of her magic power. He asked her to use her Wind Magic to push the ship so it can move faster.

Juvia helps by using her Water Magic to make strong waves and Lucy also summons Aquarius to help. Freed and Levy use their Letter Magic to make defense barriers around the ship that let everyone here to enter and leave but prevent the enemies from entering and block attacks.

As they thought, Grimoire Heart's airship is coming towards them. Alex gets ready to fight, but then he senses something. A big ship comes from afar, it's the Magic Council's battleship that carries many Magic Council Mages.

Makarov thinks it will be a pain in the ass to talk with them, but he is quite relieved because now they have allies to fight Grimoire Heart. His relief disappears very quickly as the Magic Council's battleship suddenly explodes and gets destroyed completely.
