137. Alex vs Grimoire Heart

A big hole is made in the sea by the massive dark purple beam shot from Grimoire Heart's airship. It even reaches the sea floor, making a hole on the sea floor too even though the sea floor is really deep.

Well, water is not as hard as soil or rock, so it's easier to push it even if the pressure from such deep water is high. They need to destroy the ground to make a hole, but for water, they just need to push it away, so it's still easier than destroying soil and rock.

Alex who stood on the water is nowhere to be seen now and water quickly fills the hole again.

"Did that kill him?" Azuma asks while looking down at the crashing seawater.

"We used most of the airship's energy for that attack, so it better kills him." Rustyrose answers him.

"Even if it doesn't, he should be severely injured and won't be able to swim. So the sea will kill him for us." Hades is confident with that attack and he has the right to be this confident because it was a really powerful attack.

But suddenly, a gigantic tail covered with hard grey spiky shells comes out of the sea. It moves very quickly and is coming toward their airship. They can't move their airship fast enough to dodge the giant tail, so they put up their strongest defense to protect the airship.

A transparent dark purple sphere appears on the airship. It's the airship's strongest defense system that uses up a lot of the airship's energy, that's why they didn't use it until now. More layers of defense are made by the Dark Mages in front of the airship to block the incoming attack.

The giant armored tail hit their airship from the front, swatting it away like hitting a baseball. It easily breaks the layers of defense made by the Dark Mages. The front layers are weak because they're made by the weak members while the back layers are stronger.

Even so, the stronger shields can only last for a while before being destroyed. They also have the disadvantage of being in the air, so they still get pushed even if their magic shields can withstand the giant tail attack.

Still, thanks to the layers of individual shields, the tail's attack power is reduced. So when it hits the airship's dark purple spherical shield, it doesn't break the shield. Even so, being in the air, the airship can't avoid being pushed by the tail attack.

They focus on defense, so they reduce the power to keep the airship floating or move forward. That's why their airship doesn't put up much resistance when being hit. The spherical shield makes it really look like a ball being hit by a stick.

Grimoire Heart's airship gets swatted back to Tenrou Island. The airship is spinning inside the spherical shield, but it's not destroyed by the tail attack. It crashes on the sea and the sphere makes them roll on the water toward Tenrou Island.

The rolling airship crashes onto the cliff on the coast and flings up a little before landing in the outskirt of the forest. The spherical shield disappears soon after they land and everyone inside quickly gets out of the airship with spinning eyes.

Many of them even vomit because of motion sickness after being spun in the rolling airship at high speed. Even if they don't have motion sickness problems like the Dragon Slayers, the continuous spinning still makes them feel sick.

"Ugh, w-what the hell was that?" Rustyrose asks while wiping his mouth after vomiting his breakfast.

"It must be that guy." Azuma answers while holding his head that still feels dizzy.

"What? But how did he make such a gigantic thing? From our information, he shouldn't be able to turn into a giant creature. Are you sure it's him?" Rustyrose stands up with difficulty because of his dizzy head.

"It was just a guess, but now I'm really sure. Look at the sea." Azuma looks at the direction they are coming from.

Everyone looks at where Azuma is pointing, but most of them can't see anything. Rustyrose makes scopes for the high-ranking members using his Arc of Embodiment Magic even though he still doesn't feel good.

They look through the scopes and see a white horse with a dolphin head and 5 tails galloping on the sea at a very high speed towards the island. It's a surreal thing to see a creature sunning on the water, but they've seen it for a while now, so they aren't surprised by it. They are more surprised by something else.

"Damn! He really is still alive. And it doesn't seem like he is injured at all. How?! That attack was very powerful and he took it head-on. Just what kind of body he has?"

"I think it's more correct to wonder what kind of creatures he can transform into. Aside from the 9-Tailed Fox, the other creatures are unknown. Even the 9-Tailed Fox is just a creature from stories and there's no record of it being a creature that truly exists." Azuma says the conclusion of their investigation of Fairy Tail.

"But where did he capture those creatures or at least get their souls if they don't even exist in stories or legends? Did you really not know about those creatures, Brain?" Rustyrose asks a dark-skinned man with silver hair and has face tattoos.

This man is the one who's supposed to be Oracion Seis's Guild Master, Brain a.k.a Zero. He was also the head of the research facility that did experiments on Alex and Ultear. But now he doesn't form Oracion Seis and join Grimoire Heart instead.

When the research facility was destroyed by Alex, Brain was forced to flee from the pursuit of Magic Council. After all, that facility was actually owned by the Magic Council, but he and his men misusing it by using it for human experiments.

"Nothing was found from the research we did on him. Also, at that time, he could only transform into the strange 1-Tailed beast that could control sand. But now he has 9 creatures he can transform into, so we really don't have much information about him. Even when the research facility was still operating, we couldn't find out where he obtained his power and what kind of creature was that sand beast. We could only assume that he got them since he was a baby. Those beasts might be the results of some experiments and so does him."

"You mean that guy was a lab rat, huh?"

"That's the best conclusion we could get. He was our top priority research subject, so I have a lot of his experimental data. Though I don't know the researchers who could create those beasts and then manage to put all their souls in a kid."

Well, Brain is quite right in his conclusion. Alex is an experimental subject and his power is the result of an experiment. It's just that the ones experimenting on him aren't humans, they're Gods, real Gods that create worlds, not Magical Creature called Gods like Ankhseram.

Anyway, Grimoire Heart has a lot of interest in Alex. They have investigated most Big Guilds and their powerful members. Fairy Tail is not excluded and in fact, receives more attention than other Guilds.

It's most likely due to the fact that Hades is Fairy Tail's former Guild Master. So they put more interest in Fairy Tail and have investigated Fairy Tail's members. That's why they know a lot about Alex, especially because Brain found out that Alex is one of the escapees from his destroyed research facility.

So Brain investigated Alex more thoroughly than other Fairy Tail Mages. Even so, they don't know much about Alex's power. They could only get information about Alex's job record so they could predict his level. Even so, he has shown that he is stronger than their prediction, much stronger.

From the information they get, they also assume that the creatures that Alex can transform into are experimental creatures because some of them look like Chimeras. Well, there's a horse with a dolphin head and 5 tails, and there's also a bull with an octopus's lower body, so it's a logical conclusion.

Though they don't know about the other creatures in Alex's body. They can guess that the 2-Tailed Cat is a Nekomata from Eastern Continent's legend, and so is the 9-Tailed Fox. But they don't know about the other creatures.

The Monkey also seems to be a creature from legend because there's a legend about a monkey that fought the Heaven. But they are not sure either because the ape shouldn't have 4 tails and they don't remember it being gigantic.

That's why they conclude that these beasts are creatures made by humans based on legends. And seeing how those legends are Eastern legends, they assume that the ones who made them are from Eastern Continents too, that's why they don't know much about the creatures.

"It doesn't matter anymore now. You've seen how strong that guy is. He could even throw our airship here from such a distance and now he is coming here to fight us. We couldn't fight him properly while we were on the airship, but it's not the case on land. Crush him! Then we'll go to Fairy Tail to crush them all."

Hades is determined to destroy Fairy Tail now after suffering so much today. The Dark Mages grin sinisterly and confidently because they are sure they won't lose now that they are going to fight on land.

"Guild Master, if we can capture him, can I do experiments on him?" Brain asks while smirking because he really wants to do some research on Alex and finds out the secret behind Alex's power.

"Do as you like." Hades allows it, making Brain even more excited. Soon, Alex finally arrives on Tenrou Island. The battle between Alex and Grimoire Heart will start soon.
