Chapter 36: A Prelude for Invasion Pt.2

When Mirelle and I arrived at the last guard tower to deliver items the requestee had requested, I noticed how busy the guardsman of the town was, they were coming and going from their posts and from other guard towers, talking with one another about "Preparation" and its progress. 

Just as Mirelle and I were about to leave, I noticed someone familiar in the crowd. Taking a moment to figure who it was, it was Dustin who was with Mister Garrick. Seeing that they were busy, I decided to just leave and report the completion of the quest, but just as we were leaving, Dustin saw us and approached us. 

"Celeste, Mirelle?" Dustin said, coming closer to us as he waved for us to wait for him. "What are you doing here?" Dustin asked us, before continuing to say. "Are you here because of a quest?" 

I responded to Dustin. "Yes, we were just about to head to the guild to report its completion." I was curious about Dustin and Mister Garrick's reason for being here, but I didn't ask Dustin, I didn't want to impose on something important, and just from the atmosphere from every Guard's tower, I've been too, they have been quite busy. 

"Seems, like you're curious." Dustin said to me, he found out what I was thinking just from looking at me. "Right, you can use [Healing Magic] right?" Dustin continued to speak, asking me about my skills before adding. "The Guild Master is calling for anyone who can use healing magic." he explained why he had asked me if I could use healing magic. 

"Yes, I can use healing magic." I said to Dustin before adding, "Why did the Guild Master call for healers?" I asked Dustin, curious about the guild master's reason, Dustin remained silent for a moment before nodding silently. "Can't really tell you, but if you accept the call, you'll know why we're here, and why the Guild Master called for healers." Dustin said. 

Thinking for a moment, I wondered whether it was okay to accept this call, as my class wasn't the healer type, but [Witch] class is still able use healing magic, but it's not as powerful as classes focused on healing, and my [Healing Magic] is an entirely different skill from what the skills I'd get from the [Witch]. 

I could use this opportunity to increase [Healing Magic]'s proficiency and use this opportunity to learn more about the healing skills of the [Witch] Class. "I will accept the call." I said to Dustin, as I said my thanks, bowing my head before saying my farewell to Dustin, getting back to the guild to complete the quest and accept the call for anyone capable of using [Healing Magic]. 

Upon reaching the counter for quest, I talked with the receptionist about the quest completion and talked about a few more things, before asking about the call for [Healing Magic] users and how I could join. "You can write your name here." said the receptionist lady, as she handed us a wooden clipboard along with an ink and quill, as she continued to say. "After writing your name, please head towards the second floor and enter room 106 for briefing." 

Entering the room, quite a bit of people and in those people Mirelle and I saw Elaria and Miss Syl. Seeing Elaria in the room made sense to me, she was the healer for Cliff's party and a member of the town's church, who had been raised by the head priest. Noticing Miss Syl, she must be the one briefing all of us on what we were all called here for. Looking around the room for a seat, Elaria saw us and waved at Mirelle and me to sit beside her in the vacant chairs. 

"Ela, do you know why were healers called here?" I asked Elaria, seating besides her along with Mirelle. I asked Elaria as curiosity was gnawing at me, it felt like something big was about to happen but I couldn't shake the feeling no matter what I did to ignore it. "I do, but I can't tell you just yet." Elaria said teasingly. "Hey Ela!" Mirelle greeted Elaria as she sat down beside me. 

Elaria, Mirelle and I continued to chatter as I pushed the negative thoughts aside. After a few minutes went by, a bit more people entered the room, and Miss Syl looking at the people in the room, she nodded gently as she clapped her hands repeatedly as everyone's attention slowly shifted towards Miss Syl, and when Miss Syl had everyone's attention she finally spoke. 

"Once you hear what I'm about to debrief everyone, no one is allowed to back out, this will be the only chance to leave if you want." Miss Syl warned, and some people in the room started to look at one another, after some time some of the people in the room left quietly, while most of them stayed. Miss Syl seeing the amount of people in the room, she nodded gently as she spoke once again. 

This time, she started to explain from the very beginning, the discovery of an Orc Camp in the [Dark Forest] with the Orcs having all sorts of Jobs and Classes, with a High Orc King leading the camp, with their numbers around more than a thousand, The Artificial Monster Wave coming to the town in a few days and how the town was quickly preparing for the Artificial Monster Wave, as well as subjugation of the Orc Camp. 

After explaining the surrounding details, Miss Syl was now explaining who was going to subjugate the Orc Camp along with the Guild Master, and finally what the people with [Healing Magic] were supposed to do during the Orc Camp Subjugation and Artificial Monster Wave. 

Some of those who have higher rank were to accompany the Guild Master along with other high-ranking Adventurers to the Subjugation quest while providing support, from healing to buffing the subjugation team. As for those who were left behind in the town were asked to provide healing and buffing to the soldier and other adventurers during the Artificial Monster Wave from the rear, tending to the wounded. 

Miss Syl continued to explain a few more points about some parts that didn't seem all too important, before completing the briefing for all with [Healing Magic] skill people. Leaving the room, we bid farewell to Miss Syl and Elaria before going back to the Inn. 

Walking to the Inn with Mirelle, I was quiet all the way. I was thinking about the unease that I have been feeling lately was most likely because of this. "The Artificial Monster Wave will most likely happen after 2 days from now or within this week, along with the time of the subjugation quest." I remembered Miss Syl's last message to us during the briefing.
