“Your husband really cares about you.”

Fu Ranzhan was stunned, staring at the sweet and delicate young woman in front of her, unable to respond immediately.

"Did you… mistake me for someone else?" she stammered.

"No, that's my brother. You're my sister-in-law now," Qi Yunxi said with a smile.

She had come with her brother to pick out a stroller for the baby but didn't expect to witness such an interesting scene. Despite her brother's usual flirtatious ways, he rarely paid so much attention to one woman, and he even smiled in a way that seemed to express more than just politeness. When he heard that the woman was pregnant, his shock and reaction made her even more curious and excited. So, she felt it was her duty to stop what could be the future sister-in-law from running off.

"That's your brother?" Fu Ranzhan pointed at Qi Yunmo in disbelief. "Okay, fine, he's your brother, but I'm not your sister-in-law! You've got the wrong person."

"I won't mistake it," Qi Yunxi said confidently.

Qi Yunmo turned to her and said, "Yunxi, take your sister-in-law to the café next door. I'll join you once I've finished handling this."

"Okay!" Qi Yunxi nodded, still smiling.

"Hey, hey, hey, who's her sister-in-law?" Fu Ranzhan called out, but she was still dragged away by Qi Yunxi.

A little distance away, Su Wanru, who had been watching all this, felt a deep mix of emotions.

Though Long Yejue's usual methods were harsh, he was always a cold person. But today, he had gone so far as to make things difficult for the Su family because of Tang Mianmian.

This meant that Tang Mianmian had become very important to him.

For Su Wanru, this wasn't good news.

After a moment's thought, she decided to go find Long Ruoshui to figure out how to deal with this situation.

At Shen Hospital:

Tang Mianmian was led into Shen Shaogong's office by Long Yejue, his face dark and serious.

Shen Shaogong had just finished a complicated surgery and was exhausted, ready to take a break, when his office door was kicked open. He blinked and was about to yell, but when he saw Long Yejue's cold expression, he froze.

The crown prince had arrived.

"What now?" Shen Shaogong asked weakly. His eyes landed on the woman Long Yejue was holding protectively, and he understood. "Sister-in-law? Got hurt again? Do you have an M-type constitution or something? How do you keep getting injured?"

Tang Mianmian lowered her head, embarrassed, and reluctantly explained, "I accidentally bumped into someone's high heel..."

"Pfft..." Shen Shaogong was amused by her explanation, and his fatigue seemed to disappear instantly. "That 'accident' sounds like quite the accident."

Tang Mianmian could only force a smile.

Should she say she got kicked instead...?

"Alright, you want a full checkup, right?" Shen Shaogong, who had seen all kinds of injuries, started filling out the forms without hesitation.

"No, no, no, I'm fine! It's just a surface injury," she interjected, glancing at Long Yejue for help, hoping he would show mercy and let her off.

Surprisingly, this time, he actually spoke on her behalf. "The wound is red and swollen with some skin broken. Just have a good nurse clean it up, no need for a full checkup."

Shen Shaogong grumbled, "A good nurse? Do you not trust me? I'm a priceless miracle doctor, and you're doubting me?"

"I'm not doubting you," Long Yejue replied coldly.

Shen Shaogong furrowed his brow. "Then what is it?"

Long Yejue didn't respond.

Tang Mianmian was just as confused.

After a few moments of studying Long Yejue's face, Shen Shaogong seemed to realize something and grinned, looking at Tang Mianmian like a mischievous cat. "Where exactly are you hurt?"

"My back," she answered.

"Alright, I'll find a nurse for you," Shen Shaogong said cheerfully.

Tang Mianmian was stunned. Why was he acting so mysterious about just applying medicine? What was going on?

Men's world... she just didn't get it.

Not long after, Shen Shaogong came back with a nurse, who immediately went to work. "Make sure you apply medicine properly to our sister-in-law, and be sure to pull the curtain tight," he said, his tone laced with something playful.

The nurse, clearly flustered by Shen Shaogong's intense gaze, blushed and nodded quickly, "Okay."

Tang Mianmian was led into the examination room, where the nurse asked her to lie down on the bed so she could apply the medicine.

Curious, Tang Mianmian asked, "Doesn't Dr. Shen handle these kinds of injuries himself?"

"Of course! He's the best at this," the nurse assured her.

"Then why did he send you?" Tang Mianmian asked, still puzzled.

The nurse thought for a moment before asking, "Who was that man with you earlier?"

"Man? You mean Long Yejue?" Tang Mianmian hesitated before answering.

The nurse winked at her. "Sounds like your man doesn't want other men seeing your body."

Tang Mianmian's face turned bright red. She buried her face in the blankets, too embarrassed to speak.

How could he be like this? It was just a back injury! Why was he so possessive?

Yet... why did it make her so happy?

As the nurse applied the medicine, she smiled and said, "Seems like your husband really cares about you. A man like that is hard to find, you're really lucky."

Tang Miantian didn't dare to speak, but her heart was full of mixed emotions.

Although her marriage to Long Yejue had been an accident, over the past few days, she had come to realize that despite his serious and reserved demeanor, this man always managed to do things that touched her deeply.

Of course, this overwhelming possessiveness was something she hadn't expected.

He was domineering and cold, yet beneath that, there was an undeniable tenderness.

Even though she had never heard him speak sweet words, she could always find moments in his actions that moved her.

Just like what Fu Ranran had said.

This man was a gem, and she, Tang Miantian, was the lucky one—like a pie falling from the sky, hitting her right in the head.

Perhaps, it was true.

Suddenly, she felt that meeting him was the luckiest thing that had ever happened to her in this life.

On the way back, the atmosphere in the car was somewhat tense.

Tang Miantian sat stiffly, not daring to lean against the seat, while Long Yejue drove with an unusually fast speed, occasionally glancing at her.

Trying to let him focus on driving, she quickly explained, "Actually, I'm fine. You can drive a little faster."

The man didn't respond to her, continuing to drive at his slow pace.

Tang Miantian watched as cars overtook them, feeling helpless.

Driving so slowly, were those drivers looking down on them?

Especially since they were driving such a fancy sports car. The looks they were getting were almost unbearable.

But with his solemn expression, she didn't dare say anything. She just sat there, uneasy, until they reached their destination.

As soon as she got out of the car, Tang Miantian immediately felt like she was alive again.

Long Yejue said nothing as he escorted her upstairs. After settling her, he called An Yi to have some food delivered, then grabbed his jacket and told her, "I need to step out for a bit. I'll be back soon. If you're bored, you can watch TV or play on your phone."

"I'm fine. You can go ahead and handle your business," Tang Miantian said, trying to reassure him.

Long Yejue gave a barely perceptible nod, his gaze deepening for a moment before he left the room.

Without his imposing presence, Tang Miantian finally decided to relax a little.

Though her back still hurt, it wasn't bad enough to stop her from moving. She carefully got up and walked to the balcony, just in time to see his Maybach speeding away.

Did he have an urgent matter to attend to?

She stood on the balcony, watching the car disappear into the distance, lost in thought.

It wasn't until An Yi arrived, bringing a gourmet set meal from Yushi Yuan and a computer and iPad to pass the time, that she snapped out of her reverie.

As she ate, she glanced at An Yi and finally couldn't hold back any longer. "Is Long Yejue out dealing with something important?"

An Yi avoided her gaze briefly and casually replied, "Maybe he's meeting with a client."

"Really? I didn't hear about it today."

It suddenly occurred to An Yi that since Tang Miantian was now the Young Master's personal secretary, she likely knew his schedule.

Tang Miantian looked at An Yi suspiciously, making him feel even more uncomfortable. He quickly came up with an excuse to leave, saying, "I just remembered there's a document I need to deliver to a partner. I have to go to the office."

Tang Miantian put down her chopsticks with a sigh. "An Yi, do you think he went back to the old house?"

"What? No, not at all..." An Yi was caught off guard by her accurate guess, and his unease grew.

"Looks like he did," she murmured, casting a wistful glance out the window. "His mother has never accepted me. If he went back to confront her, things are sure to blow up."

"Madam, it's not as bad as you think. The Young Master isn't hot-tempered. He knows how to handle these things," An Yi said, trying to comfort her.

But Tang Miantian was still very worried. After thinking for a moment, she looked up at An Yi with pleading eyes. "An Yi, could you take me to the old house?"

"Ah? No, no way! Absolutely not!" An Yi shook his head like a rattle.

He was joking, right? If he took her there, the Young Master would surely explode. Then he would be the one in trouble.

But Tang Miantian was so stubborn that An Yi had never seen anything like it. "I know this might cause you trouble," she said seriously.

An Yi nodded quickly, thinking, "Yes, trouble, total trouble. So you better not go!"

"But I still have to go!" she insisted.

"..." An Yi felt like he had just heard a crack in the air.

Tang Miantian looked at him earnestly and said, "This situation started because of me. I don't want to be the barrier between them. I don't want him to fall out with his family because of me. Although I don't fully understand the concept of family ties in rich families, I do know that 'harmony brings prosperity.'"

Those were the literal words.

What she didn't say, however, was that she didn't want to be a stumbling block for Long Yejue.

She was already not a good match for him. If she ended up holding him back, she wouldn't be able to live with herself.

Seeing her determined expression, An Yi knew that if he didn't take her, she might go on her own. Left with no choice, he reluctantly agreed.

When they got to the car, he quietly called Long Yejue.

But the call went unanswered!

This made An Yi even more anxious. In the end, he sent a text message:

[Madam is going to the old house. Please return quickly!]

It was more than a half-hour drive from Hai Tian Yi Xian to the Long family's old house. Initially, An Yi had planned to delay and wait for the Young Master's return call.

But now, with the evening traffic thinning, the drive was smooth. What should've been a 30-minute trip was completed in less than 20 minutes.

When An Yi saw the gates of the old house, he nearly cried with regret.
