You’re Such a Slave to Your Wife

Though the reason they got married is still a mystery to this day, it doesn't stop this woman from being pure and adorable.

Noticing the woman beside him looking disappointed, he immediately put away the smile and asked, "I say, Long Yichen, was that flower you gave her?"

"Yes."

Long Yichen and He Xijue had always had a bit of a rivalry, and now that Long Yichen wasn't around to hold things down, the two started to clash.

When Su Xi saw the tension between the two men, her head ached. After all these years, they were still playing these games with each other. Didn't they get tired of it?

But with He Xijue's humor and wit, he managed to make Tang Mianmian, who had felt a bit awkward at first, laugh so hard she was on the verge of tears.

"One of my friends asked me once, 'What are your principles for making friends?' I shook my head and said coolly, 'I don't care if they're rich. They won't have more money than I do anyway.'"

"Hahaha..." Tang Mianmian couldn't help but burst into laughter.

How is this guy so funny? His aura doesn't match his humor at all!

Long Yichen occasionally joined in with a joke, and the mood lightened up as they enjoyed the beautiful scenery together.

The only two quiet ones were Long Yejue and Su Xi.

Su Xi was busy making tea for everyone, while Long Yejue occasionally glanced at Tang Mianmian but didn't say anything.

After a while, perhaps due to sitting too long, Long Yejue stood up and said he was going to step outside to the balcony for a while.

Su Xi hesitated but followed, walking over to join him.

Tang Mianmian had been laughing nonstop at He Xijue's jokes, but suddenly, it didn't feel so funny anymore. Still, she kept smiling to keep up the mood.

It was the first time she realized how tiring a fake smile could be.

On the balcony, Long Yejue stood with a cold expression, gazing into the distance with an "I don't want to talk to anyone" demeanor. For a moment, Su Xi saw echoes of the man he used to be years ago.

Her heart stirred, and she walked up to him. Mimicking his posture, she rested her hands on the railing and looked at the view. "It's getting more beautiful here, especially in the fall, with the maple leaves turning red. Even when you're in a bad mood, just seeing this view can lift your spirits."

Long Yejue responded without turning his head, "This was her favorite place."

Upon hearing those words, Su Xi's face turned pale. She bit her lip and asked, "You thought… you'd forgotten about her."

"Forget a person? It's not that easy," Long Yejue said with a complex look in his eyes.

Su Xi's emotions stirred, and she finally asked, "Why did you suddenly get married? And to a woman none of us knows?"

Long Yejue couldn't help but think of Tang Mianmian, a smile tugging at his lips. His previously suppressed mood lightened. "It was time."

Su Xi's face fell, feeling defeated. "So, if it's just because of time, does that mean anyone would do?"

"Su Xi." He suddenly called her, interrupting her rising anger. "I'm happy now. I'm getting along well with Mianmian, it's comfortable. I like the way things are now."

Su Xi's face paled. A sour feeling churned in her chest. She could only watch as the man turned away indifferently and left the balcony to join the woman who was laughing without a care.

Her question had become so laughable.

If anyone would do, why not me?

She wanted to ask. She really did.

But the courage she had been accumulating for over twenty years wasn't enough to ask that question.

A Long, Tiring Day

After leaving the small bridge and flowing water, Tang Mianmian sat drowsily in the car, her head wobbling from side to side.

There was nothing she could do about it. She'd woken up early in the morning, eaten too much just now, and with the car's swaying, she was on the verge of falling asleep.

She couldn't help it—her head kept swaying as she began to doze off.

The man driving the car glanced at the little woman beside him, helplessly watching her drift off at any given moment.

He slowed down the car at first, worried she might hit her head, and gently supported her head with his hand.

But seeing that she still couldn't stay upright, he finally stopped the car, reclined her seat, and strapped her in securely, feeling relieved before continuing to drive.

Yet the speed didn't pick up again.

They had all planned to go to Huangdu together, where Qi Yunmo and Mo Chengyu were already waiting for them.

But after driving a long distance, Long Yichen realized that his older brother's car wasn't behind them.

He Xijue, seeing the car slow down, also stopped and got out to ask, "What's going on?"

"Why isn't the boss here yet?"

He Xijue looked behind them and didn't see the familiar car. He, too, was puzzled. "Yejue usually drives very strictly, but there's no way he's driving this slowly."

The two waited for over ten minutes, and finally, they saw the white Aston Martin pulling up slowly.

At that moment, Long Yejue was only concerned about two things: not letting Tang Mianmian roll out of the seat and focusing on the road.

Even though He Xijue and Long Yichen were waiting at the side, he happily waved when he saw their car approaching.

But soon enough, both men froze. Their expressions stiffened, and the taunts they had prepared got stuck in their throats.

Long Yejue's car simply drove past without acknowledging them at all.

He Xijue, reacting immediately, jumped out of the car. "What the hell! This is too much! Long Yejue is being so rude!"

Long Yichen nodded fervently, not caring about family ties at this point. "I think he's doing this on purpose to ignore us!"

"Let's catch up to him!" He Xijue's temper flared, and he sped off after Long Yejue's car.

Su Xi's face tightened, worried. "What's going on? Why are you driving so fast? And why didn't Yejue stop?"

"I don't know, I'm going to catch up and ask him," He Xijue said, flooring the accelerator.

Su Xi could only shake her head helplessly, muttering, "Safety first."

The two cars quickly caught up to Long Yejue, boxing him in. He Xijue rolled down the window and yelled, "Long Yejue! What's the deal? Why didn't you stop when you saw us waiting for you?"

Long Yejue glanced at them but said nothing. He simply raised a hand to gesture them to be quiet.

He Xijue, enraged, muttered to himself, "What the hell?"

To think that He Xijue, heir to the He family, was being completely ignored like this… Could they still have fun?

Meanwhile, Long Yichen wasn't brave enough to yell at his older brother. He only tilted his head slightly and saw Tang Mianmian asleep in the seat. His understanding deepened.

A cold smile crept onto his lips. He pressed down the accelerator, overtook both of them, and sped ahead.

He Xijue wasn't one to back down, increasing his speed to avoid staying at the same pace as the slow-moving Long Yejue.

For a moment, a stunning scene unfolded on the streets of Jiang City.

"Wow, take a picture, take a picture! I see luxury cars!" Other drivers, excited at the sight of the expensive vehicles, fumbled for their phones.

But by the time they got their cameras out, the Lamborghini and Bentley were already out of sight.

Only the Aston Martin remained, steadily cruising along, not as reckless as the other two.

Inside the car, the man continued driving, occasionally glancing at the woman beside him...

At the Royal Capital Entertainment Club.

In the top-tier private room on the 11th floor, Qi Yunmo was sipping his drink while staring at the door, muttering, "Long Yeju's too slow."

He Xiangjue couldn't help but joke, "You don't know, driving that car, he's slower than a turtle. He probably won't even make it tonight."

Su Xi, clearly puzzled by the sudden slow pace, asked in concern, "Is something wrong?"

Long Yichen overheard and couldn't help but scoff, a smirk tugging at his lips. "What could go wrong? I just saw it—my dear sister-in-law fell asleep. That's why he's driving so slowly. He's taking care of her."

A shudder ran through the room at his comment.

Long Yeju's behavior was downright cringeworthy.

Qi Yunmo, however, seemed to understand, chuckling. "Looks like the guy's fallen hard this time."

That one sentence caused Su Xi's heart to drop. The wine glass in her hand slipped, falling to the floor.

Everyone's eyes turned toward her. Feeling uncomfortable under their gaze, she quickly stood up, flustered. "I'll be right back. I need to use the restroom."

Everyone could tell what was going on in her mind, but they didn't say it aloud.

The moment Su Xi opened the door, Long Yeju walked in, holding the still-dazed Tang Mianmian. The girl looked as though she was in a half-dream, her eyes confused, her innocence so pure it made you want to pinch her cherubic face.

Seeing this, Su Xi felt a cold pang in her heart. Without saying a word, she quickly took the initiative. "You two just got here? Everyone's been waiting for you. I'll just go to the restroom. We'll talk later."

She turned and left, a bit awkwardly.

Long Yeju didn't respond to her words. Instead, he simply guided Tang Mianmian to sit down. "You should wake up now."

Tang Mianmian blinked and finally seemed to return to her senses, but when she saw so many people, she became embarrassed and turned to Long Yeju. "When did we arrive?"

Long Yeju's lips twitched, looking helplessly at her dazed expression.

He Xiangjue burst into laughter, "Sister-in-law, you're really adorable with that natural airhead personality!"

"Is that so?" Long Yeju's voice went cold.

At the sound of his tone, He Xiangjue quickly stopped laughing, not daring to push his luck.

Among the group, Long Yeju appeared to be the most easygoing, but his methods were the most formidable.

Anyone who offended him... well, the consequences would be fatal.

When they were kids, they all got along well. Before university, they all attended the same school, and Long Yeju was always the strategist in their group.

When it came to teaching someone a lesson, he only needed to give an idea and another person would carry out the action without ever realizing it was Long Yeju's plan.

As kids, everyone had nicknamed him "Jiang City's #1 Black-bellied Wolf."

He was a dangerous person—never to be provoked.

Qi Yunmo leaned over and poured a drink for Tang Mianmian, flashing his irresistible smile. "Sister-in-law, where's Yan Yan?"

Tang Mianmian, completely defenseless against his charm, was about to answer honestly when she heard Long Yeju's voice next to her.

"Since she's from your family, why are you asking our Mianmian?"

Qi Yunmo blinked, speechless.

He was frustrated, his heart boiling with irritation. He muttered, "Long Yeju, you're such a wife slave!"

"Wife slave?"

Tang Mianmian froze.

That description didn't fit at all.

She had never thought Long Yeju listened to her. In fact, over these past few days, she felt like she had been the one under his control.

So the "wife slave" comment had absolutely no basis.

Of course, she didn't dare argue. Afraid of angering him, she quickly tried to explain, "No, no! Whether we're at home, outside, or at the office, I listen to him."

Qi Yunmo scoffed, a look of clear disdain in his eyes.

Thinking he was looking down on her, Tang Mianmian raised both hands in protest. "I swear, it's true!"

Before Qi Yunmo could laugh, Long Yeju took her hand and placed it back down, pushing the wine glass to her lips. "Drink, be good."
