Haruki was successful in getting the pair to the side castle.
Though he desperately wanted to learn more about their circumstances—why this entity had been stalking his friend, what the urges were, and how Feng had succeeded in taming him—it was well past midnight. Old Jin would definitely beat them up if they showed up late for morning training.
When Lanling saw the entity practically glued to Feng, he blinked, then decided to place them at the very top, where no one would disturb them—or rather, where no one would accidentally get eaten.
Afterwards, he pulled Haruki into a secluded corner in the corridor and began interrogating him.
"Why is there an abyssal entity stuck to your friend??"
"Uh, well, you and me both. I just learned about this."
Haruki glanced at Lanling's left hand, which was wrapped around his right arm, and suddenly became acutely aware of how close they were. His heart skipped a beat, and his throat went dry.
