Chapter 116 - I'm quite proud for saving you

With Lanling's urgent, commanding tone, the King and his aide abruptly stood and took large strides toward the door.

"Wait," Lanling called out. "Leave the aide. I need you to take me to Rowan's office."

The men couldn't disobey him under Zeiphin's charms, so no matter how inappropriate it seemed, Rowan simply nodded. "His name is Carl, Your Highness. He's a good aide—please use him as you see fit."

Carl bowed to Lanling as those words were spoken, appearing as if he would walk on hot coals if Lanling truly ordered him to.

Lanling was used to this and simply waved his hand, urging Zeiphin and Rowan to continue. Then he turned to Haruki, his heart clenching at the sight of Haruki's furrowed brows, as though he, too, was deeply affected by the issue.

A surge of discomfort rose within Lanling at the sight, strengthening his resolve to shoulder the burden for the both of them instead—he had now fully accepted this fact.
