Lilith's face turned pale. She wanted nothing more than to leave this dangerous place as quickly as possible, but when she turned around, it seemed Eric had no intention of leaving.
Unable to hold back, she whispered, "Hey, Eric, aren't you leaving?"
Eric didn't answer. He simply turned back and made a "silence" gesture with his hand.
If this woman startled the prey, then all these wolves would turn on him at once.
Right now, the two wolf packs were on the verge of a full-on battle, which would save Eric a lot of trouble!
Does this guy want to fight all these Exotic Beasts at once? What a fool… Lilith couldn't help but mutter to herself. Then, it hit her Eric was already a Low-level Magic user.
His strength was far beyond hers, something she couldn't even begin to judge.
But still, even as a Low-level Magic user, it's hard to imagine taking on so many Exotic Beasts alone... Lilith frowned.
Though she had intended to leave, she changed her mind, deciding to stay and see how Eric would handle the situation.
Alright, Eric, if you're chased by the wolves, don't come begging me to call an ambulance… Lilith steeled herself and quietly hid behind the tree.
Meanwhile, Eric kept a close watch on the battlefield.
The two wolf packs had already begun fighting! Members of both groups clashed, biting and tearing at each other. The air was thick with splattered blood and fur.
The sounds of beastly growls and cries echoed through the forest!
This is intense, Eric murmured to himself, though excitement filled his mind. The more fiercely they fought, the better. Once the battle ended, it would be his turn to strike.
About ten minutes later.
The spectacular battle between the Exotic Beasts began to wind down, and in the end, the larger wolf pack claimed victory.
The cave pack was nearly wiped out. Two wolves were killed outright, while the rest were left maimed, struggling on the ground.
The victorious wolf pack, which had originally numbered seven, still had about half of its members intact and ready to fight.
They let out triumphant howls to celebrate their victory. But just then, Eric suddenly stood up and walked forward.
Almost simultaneously, several of the Swiftwind Wolves noticed a new enemy and immediately became alert, growling and baring their teeth at Eric.
Heh, it's time to finish this. Eric's expression remained calm as he began to chant his Magic.
Meanwhile, the remaining three or four wolves, from different directions, charged toward him with ferocity!
The Swiftwind Wolves, when running, are always surrounded by a whirlwind, their speed so incredible that they are nearly impossible for the human eye to track.
This, too, is the most dangerous aspect of the Swiftwind Wolves.
Several dozen meters away, behind a large tree, Lilith watched this scene, so tense that she even forgot to breathe.
This guy... he really went for it! How could he possibly take on so many Swiftwind Wolves at once? Lilith's eyes widened, her brow furrowed in concern.
But Eric was calm and collected. He had already anticipated the trajectory of the wolves' charge. In the next moment, water spheres began to shoot out from his hands, one after another.
After days of intense practice, Eric had perfected his Magic to the point where it was second nature. Even the most basic Water Sphere Technique, which once took him about five seconds to cast, had now become instantaneous.
Now, in just half a second, he could launch one.
And it was fast! Precise! Deadly!
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
With a series of explosions, the several Swiftwind Wolves that had charged at him in a blur were instantly brought down. In the blink of an eye, they were all on the ground, their bellies torn open, guts spilling out, blood pouring from their mouths. All of them were dead.
"Done." Eric quickly dispatched the ones that weren't fully dead with another round of strikes, and then moved on to clean up the battlefield.
Meanwhile, behind the tree, Lilith stood frozen, completely stunned. She found herself walking forward, almost in a daze, toward the bodies of the wolves, wanting to confirm they were truly dead.
"This is... unbelievable..." Lilith's face was a picture of shock.
She had been worried for Eric, but she never could have imagined that in less than three seconds, he would have finished the battle and the entire process was so fast and incomprehensible to her that she didn't even understand what had just happened.
Eric's triple Water Sphere Technique had been too fast, too precise. Lilith couldn't even see what happened. Everything was over before she knew it. She had to replay it in her mind for a long while before she could even begin to understand what had occurred.
"That was... Water Sphere Technique..." Lilith stood in place, silent.
She, too, was a Magic user, and she had seen Eric use his Magic before just a few days ago. She could clearly sense the difference between this time and the last.
The gap was so vast... it was almost overwhelming.
"Such proficiency... it must take years of practice for an experienced Magic user to achieve this level, how did he...?" In just a few seconds, Lilith had so much to reflect on.
She couldn't help but wonder, how long would it take her to achieve a Magic technique like the one she had just witnessed?
Three years? Five years? Or maybe I'll never be able to do it...
"Ah, almost forgot. With so many corpses, it's such a hassle to pack them up. Just like last time, I'm running into the same problem again…" Eric sighed as he looked at the numerous Swiftwind Wolf bodies scattered around him.
There were at least a dozen wolves. Eric could carry maybe one, but how was he supposed to move all of them?
"While everyone's trying their best to hunt more prey, here I am again, dealing with the problem of having too much…" Eric shook his head, clearly frustrated by the situation.
Meanwhile, over on the other side, Alicia's team had made significant progress. They had hunted four or five common Exotic Beasts, but because they had spread out, a few members had gotten injured.
Even Alicia herself had almost been scratched by a Raccoon.
"Exotic Beasts really are dangerous. Everyone okay? From now on, we need to be more careful…" Alicia said, giving the group a warning.
"Alicia, hunting Exotic Beasts is harder than I thought. Fortunately, we've done pretty well, and from what I saw, the other teams aren't doing much better than us," one of the team members said.
"We're doing so well, but we're still falling behind? Ugh, it's still because we're one short. Bringing Eric along was definitely a mistake!" another member clenched his fists and muttered.
Alicia didn't respond, but sighed deeply.
Hunting Exotic Beasts was harder than she had expected. She had thought that with her abilities as a Magic user, she could lead the whole team, but in the end, she had overestimated herself.
She wasn't a true Magic user yet. Her magic wasn't powerful enough, and her mana was limited. Even with the Staff to boost her, she had to use it sparingly.
"Wait a minute..." Suddenly, Alicia looked behind her, and what she saw shocked her. "Where's Eric? Where did Eric go?"
The others quickly realized the same thing.
"Yeah, Eric hasn't been around for about twenty minutes. No one knows where he went." Someone said with concern. "What's going on? This guy is already hard enough to deal with, and now he's running off on his own?!"
Alicia's heart tightened. After all, Eric was her teammate.
"Could something have happened to Eric? We need to find him right away!" Alicia said, her voice full of urgency as she and the others immediately started searching for him nearby.
By the cave, Eric was still standing amidst the scattered bodies of the Swiftwind Wolves, lost in thought. Suddenly, he heard Alicia's voice from behind.
"Eric! We found you! What are you doing here?"
Eric turned around and saw Alicia, accompanied by a group of teammates, running toward him.
Standing on Eric's shoulder, Lilith suddenly came to her senses and remembered that she was still participating in the hunt and that she wasn't on the same team as Eric.
"You guys actually found your way here." Eric said, his tone calm as he watched his teammates approach.
As soon as Alicia and the others arrived, they were immediately stunned by the sight of so many Swiftwind Wolf corpses scattered around and the sharp, pungent smell of blood in the air. They stood frozen in shock.
All of the teammates were deeply shaken. Even Alicia's eyes widened, her lips slightly moving as she murmured, "So many Swiftwind Wolves… How could this be…"
The four of them kept glancing over the bodies of the Swiftwind Wolves, their eyes filled with disbelief.
"Oh my god, this is insane!" One of the teammates beside Alicia couldn't help but exclaim, "With this, Kevin's team is basically unbeatable now!"
