Ethan's heart beat faster as he followed Dr. King through the winding corridors of the clock tower. They must act quickly to escape alive.
As they ran, stones from the bell tower began to crumble and fall, blocking their path and forcing them to turn.
Ethan's lungs burned as he climbed the narrow stairs, the sound of breaking stone growing louder with each step.
Then, after a long wait, he reached a large wooden door. Dr. King opened the door and saw a large cavern filled with rows of old dusty shelves.
Ethan's eyes widened when he saw this. "Where is this place?"
Dr. King smiled, his eyes shining with joy. "This is the library in the clock tower," he said. "Here we will discover the secrets of the bell tower and the keys to unlocking its true power." The air reeked of old books and dust, and the silence was oppressive, broken only by the creak of the tower's bell-ringing apparatus.
Ethan's heart raced as he followed Dr. King through rows of shelves in search of the clock's secrets. But as they entered the library, Ethan couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched, as fixed eyes stared at them from the shadows.
Then, suddenly, the lights went out, plunging the library into darkness. Ethan's heart skipped a beat when he heard footsteps in the darkness.
"What happened Ethan?" his voice trembled with fear.
Dr. Kim's voice was calm, but Ethan felt uneasy. "I don't know," he said.
Standing in the darkness, Ethan felt his heart pounding in his chest. He knew they had to get out of this, and fast. But as he turned to run, Ethan realized he wasn't alone in the library. There was something else there, watching them with cold, calculating eyes.
Then, when all hope seemed lost, Ethan heard a faint noise from a far corner of the library. It was a low hum that seemed to grow louder.
"What is it Ethan?"
Dr. King's words were unclear. "I don't know," he said. "But I think it's our only hope.".
