"It's the perfect plot,' king Edmund thought.
"You won't get away with hurting Augustus," King Edmund stood his ground.
"Oh, I'm shaking in my boots. Has anyone ever told you that your threats sound like a dying goose," Prince Angelus let out, he stepped down from the bed and approached his father. "Let's have a moment of peace for this poor soul's intelligence. By the time you get revenge for your son, I'll have already won this war," he coldly added.
Prince Angelus released a heavy sigh. His tears rolled down like a river due to the actions of his enemies. They drew blood and tried to drown him in his sorrow, luckily, he found a lifeboat in Cassiel and made it shore.
"You will respect me, boy," King Edmund growled.
"What have you done to earn my respect?" Angelus raised a question at his father. "All my life I've lived in the shadow of your love for Augustus. As long as he lives, I'll always be second best in your eyes."
King Edmund blinked and averted his gaze from Angelus. He couldn't refute the accusations Angelus made.
"Don't look away, look at me, look at the son whose existence you can't stand. Go on," Angelus urged his father.
The world thought him a beast, a troll, a monster undeserving of the throne of Sevigoria and there was one man to thank for that. For as long as he could remember, the king has never fancied being seen with him.
Prince Angelus has appeared in public three times with the royal family. In all those occasions the focus was on prince Augustus who had the king's favor. People failed to notice his presence, who would wish to know him when his own father doesn't acknowledge him.
"That story is about to change," Prince Angelus firmly said.
King Edmund stared into his eyes, he saw a reflection of himself and the real villain of the story. In his hatred for the queen for forcing his hand in marrying her, he loathed and ignored her children and inturn Prince Angelus grew up to be broken.
His sword fell and landed on the floor with a thud sound. King Edmund stumbled back as he recalled every firsts he had with Augustus and never with Angelus.
"There's a few ways this plays out. You kill your daughter's lover and lose her, spare him and lose your supporters or abolish the law against magic and get Mordred a lesser sentence and still lose your supporters," Prince Angelus pointed out the choices the king had in the case. "Either way, you lose something and that will be a sweet satisfaction for me," he added.
King Edmund gritted his teeth, he hated being pushed to a corner. The remorse he felt for neglecting Angelus faded as quickly as it appeared.
"Stop talking, please. Your voice is shrill and piercing and thouroughly unpleasant," King Edmund said, he straightened his shirt and concealed his emotions and met Angelus's gaze with a cold piercing stare. "Has anyone ever told you that you speak too much, child," he added.
"Hmmm...they haven't had the pleasure," Angelus retorted.
King Edmund clapped his hands three times in the air, soldiers marched into Angelus's chambers.
Queen Rosalyn tensed. She feared for her son, the king was wounded and upset, there was no telling what he would do to Angelus.
However, prince Angelus remained calm and unfazed by the reinforcements. He came prepared for war and the king's intimidation did nothing to deter his stance.
"Arrest prince Angelus for his crimes against the crown," the king ordered.
"You'll do no such thing!" Queen Rosalyn claimed sternly. King Edmund smirked devilishly and spoke, "Watch me!"
Captain Davon stepped forward to arrest the prince. He wanted to do the honors to spare Angelus from receiving harsh treatment from the other soldiers.
Prince Angelus allowed himself to be dragged away by Captain Davon. He paused next to his father and cast him a mocking glance. "You shouldn't have done this," he let out.
"Arrest the Queen, I'm sure she's the mastermind," King Edmund pushed his luck. The trap set by the prince provided an opportunity for him to prove Rosalyn unworthy of her title. A chance that opened doors to a possibility of Diane becoming the queen of Sevigoria.
"Are you insane?"
"Yes, I'll see you at your trial. Take her away!"
The guards dragged the queen along towards the prisons. Prince Angelus walked into the prisons with grace and Majesty as if he was going to a ball.
He ambled over to the wall and slid down to the floor. Angelus closed his eyes and silently contemplated the next play of his plan.
On the other hand, the king explained the conspiracy to General Zard and had his guards to be witnesses to Angelus's deeds. He exonerated Mordred of his crimes and freed him from the charges of magic.
Princess Elveryn was overjoyed by the news. She jumped with joy and decided the occasion called for celebration.
She was pleased to learn that Prince Angelus and queen Rosalyn will stand trial for the attack on her brother. An opportunity that proved beneficial for her and her mother.
Princess Elveryn began to make plans to celebrate. She took a sip from the glass of chilled red wine and heartily danced around her room.
She played a scene in her head where her mother was the queen of Sevigoria, she was the grand princess and her brother was the grand prince, heir apparent to the crown of her father. Her daydream was a luminous picture that gave her goosebumps.
"Prince Angelus will face trial in a few days and then he'll leave the palace forever," she heartily expressed.
"Don't you feel sorry for your brother at all?" Lady Isabella inquired from her.
"Look, Angelus is my father's son but he isn't my brother. I know you have feelings for him but don't rain on my parade," Princess Elveryn scolded Lady Isabella.
Prince Angelus put her lover's life in danger by conspiring against her, she had no sympathy for Angelus or queen Rosalyn.
"Today I'll celebrate and tomorrow I'll continue the celebration. Good news and luck favoures me and nothing can bring me down," she firmly stated.
