The courtyard was filled with the sound of murmurs and whispers, the courtiers gathering in anticipation.

In the center of the square stood a tall wooden platform, its rough beams casting shadows in the midday sun. The air was thick with tension.

Diane was pulled forward, her hands bound tightly behind her back. She could barely keep her balance as the guards forced her onto the platform, the crowd watching her every move.

Her heart pounded in her chest as she looked up. Queen Rosalyn sat high on her throne, surrounded by her nobles. The queen's face was cold, her eyes sharp and unforgiving.

Diane's crime was simple, but it had angered the queen beyond measure. In a moment of weakness, Diane had dropped hot stones into Queen Rosalyn's bathwater, burning her skin as she bathed.

It was a small act, but it had been seen as an attack on the queen's honor, and now Diane would pay.
