Fracture

Amria's POV

The sound of Jayden's voice still rang in my ears as I stood in the kitchen, gripping the counter so hard my knuckles turned white. My chest was tight, my pulse racing. I had spent the last hour replaying everything he had said, each word a heavier blow than the last.

He had crossed a line—a line I thought we both understood.

The soft creak of the door behind me snapped me out of my thoughts. I turned to see Jayden standing in the doorway, his face set in a mix of guilt and frustration.

"We need to talk," he said, his voice steady but carrying an edge of defensiveness.

I folded my arms across my chest, glaring at him. "Talk? Now you want to talk, Jayden? After you made a decision that affects both of us without even consulting me?"

"It wasn't like that," he said quickly, stepping closer.
