The Snare is Set

Ten minutes later, the Commander, the General, Hermione, and Dr. Granger approached Evan. "Midshipman" "Yes, Sir!" Evan responded, saluting his officers. "Where are our prisoners?" they asked. "I knew I forgot something! My shift just started about 20 minutes ago. Let me get Midshipman Corry to take over from me."

A few minutes later they were all standing outside a chicken-wire enclosed man-sized coup. The coup itself appeared empty except for a pillar in the center. "Where are our prisoners, Midshipman?" the General asked. "They're inside, Sir." Evan replied. "I don't see anybody inside this birdcage" responded the General. "Well, Sirs, I think I accidently turned them into twigs." Evan said. "Twigs?" repeated the General. "Yes, Sir. I was pretty tired and wasn't thinking clearly, so I don't really remember, sir". "There are a lot of twigs in this coup, Midshipman! Which one are they?" The General and Commander were battling between trying to come off angry and laughing. "I believe they might be the black ones, Sir" Evan replied, whereupon the General and Commander lost it. Hermione was smirking, as well. "There is no access door here, Midshipman." The Commander stated. "Like I said sir, I was very tired - I might have pushed them through the wire, sir? I really didn't want them escaping, sir. Just a moment and I will cut an opening, sir." Evan replied. "No need, Midshipman. Hermione can get them out. Go back to your post, Midshipman." The Commander ordered. "Yes, Sirs. Hermione. Dr. Granger – a Good Morning to you." Evan then about faced and returned to his post.

The time was coming up on 7:30am. The General, Hermione and her father were in the park. Hermione cast Finite Incantatum on Malfoy, whereupon he turned from black twig to Death Eater. Then she put three drops of her scopolamine/veritussum mixture in his mouth, waited a few seconds, and Reenervated him. Hermione asked him, "Draco, what did you see while waiting in this park as ordered by the Dark Lord?". "Just stupid birds. There was nothing to see." He answered. "Did you see any kind of activity at the Christ Church complex?" she asked. "No." he answered. "What time did you get here?" Hermione asked. "I got here at midnight" he responded. Hermione then performed an Obliviate on Draco, erasing everything from just before his time of capture.

"You will remember only that everything remained as you saw the park when you arrived. There was no activity observed at the Christ Church complex. You believe you have dozed off while watching from your post. When you wake up you will see it is 8am and return to the Dark Lord as ordered" she said. Then she cast a weak sleep spell (Somenum), and placed his wands in his pocket. Then she left with the General and her father for the top of the building across the street, where Evan found Scabior. She repeated the same procedure with Scabior, making sure he saw no activity. She also implanted a memory of obliviating two people and transfiguring them, moving them, and then removing the transfiguration. Hermione put his wand in his hand and quickly hid behind the air conditioning unit on the roof top. They watched as Scabior "woke up", looked at his watch, exclaimed "Damn" and then apparated away. The time – 08:00.

December 23, 1995. 07:45am, Magic Monitoring Office, Ministry of Magic, London. Three spells were recorded as having been cast in the park near Christ Church: a Finite, an Obliviate, and a Somenum. Mafilda Hopkirk noted them, and that they were cast by Scabior, and then erased them from the record. At 07:55am, the same three spells were cast from a nearby location by the same person. Mafilda Hopkirk smirked, and erased the spells from the registry. Madam Bones, however, did take notice. Ever since Minister Fudge went on his rant about Miss Granger, Madam Bones had been doing a little of her own investigating. She needed to be warned as soon as any strange spells were cast outside the magical world, if she wanted to get any real answers. She took a mirror, spelled it to look like a photograph, and mounted it in the Magic Monitoring Office, facing the registry. She also added a copying spell onto the registry so that anything written in it would be copied to her book, which was further spelled to give her an alarm. It just paid off.

She grabbed her Auror robes, quickly left the building and apparated to Christ Church. Madam Bones cast a Notice-Me-Not charm on herself followed by an invisibility charm. As she approached the entrance to Tom Gate, she noticed several things that were out of place. There were several metal things that looked like giant "X"s scattered around, and she saw the Commander, General Black, Miss Granger and her father crossing the street. She still had her wand in her hand, and was about to make her way toward them when she felt the pressure of a small pipe push up against her back and an ice-cold voice whispered to her – "Whoever you are, understand that I have a gun pointed at your back, capable of shooting over 50 rounds a second. If you do not want to be riddled with holes, I suggest you make yourself visible and drop your weapon immediately. You have three seconds to comply before I shoot."

Madam Bones was, of course, shocked that a muggle could know where she was, considering the spells she had cast earlier; and that that person was able to sneak up on her so silently! She immediately replied. "I am going to move my right hand to make myself visible in 3, 2, 1". "Madam Bones" the General exclaimed, approaching them. "Somehow I am not totally surprised to see you here. Midshipman! Good work." He said. Madam Bones turned around, and found herself facing Midshipman Fenix…and his assault rifle. "Madam Bones, your wand please." The General asked. After she, albeit reluctantly, handed over her wand, they took her up to the roof top overwatch command. "Why are you here Commander? Why did the Ministry of Magic register some spells from across the way?" Madam Bones asked. "What are all these things scattered all around?"
