Forum of New Rome

The Forum of New Rome was in an uproar, with the Fall of the Western Roman Empire, they had become the heirs of the Roman legacy and many Roman politicians attributed the Fall of Rome to the Church Catholics as one of the culprits for the Fall of Rome, while other Roman politicians attributed the Fall of Rome to their lack of trust, loyalty and honor, other Roman politicians attributed the corruption, intrigues, conspiracies and murders, while the politicians who represented the natives watched the Romans intensely discuss who was most to blame for the Fall of Rome.

The Pretoris Quintus Theodosius, Now that he is over 71 years old, he can see that perhaps his father's dream of Rome rising again, as was the case during the Crisis of the Third Century, was just a fanciful dream. He was lucky enough to experience the last Western Roman Emperor who was the last shred of competence in a place of decay, idleness and a state of anomie that lasted until his end.

What would he have done if Majorian had been born in the third century and succeeded Aurelian, perhaps he would have been the second Augustus? This was a question he would never know the answer to, as he was born in the fifth century and became the last militarily efficient Western Roman emperor, after his death the emperors that succeeded him were useless and puppets of barbarians and Eastern Romans until the end in 476 AD.

Quintus Theodosius says Roman politicians not to simplify history between good and evil, as Rome did not only fall because of the Germanic invasions, if internal politics were loyal to the emperor perhaps today they would be driving the Franks back to the Rhine River, but here we are in the New World writing our destiny in our new home. So many of the Roman politicians who were still Mithraists would leave the Forum of New Rome cursing the Christians, calling them enemies and that their religion was backward and that they would all be punished by Mithra for turning against the religion of Latium, promising revenge against the Christians by the Fall of Rome.

Quintus knew that tensions between Mithraists and Christians were only increasing, since the Roman population reached about 500,000 Romans, more than half were Catholics while a third of the population is pagan, specifically Mithraist, in addition to exercising great functions in high-ranking positions, they were arming Mithraist militias to vandalize churches in the province of New Rome and enslave the natives, thus generating unnecessary tension with the native politicians who were on the Roman side, as he tried not to tip the scales towards the Mithraists or the Catholics, being a devotee of Saint George, the time was coming for him to decide what would be the official religion of that new Roman nation and this would happen a few weeks after this clash in the week of Easter celebration to mark a new watershed in the history of the New World, adopting Latin-rite Christianity as the official religion, before the European colonial powers arrived in New World.

Church of Saint George

On Easter Day

Quintus was at mass celebrating Easter when dozens of native horses and soon after the dust settled hundreds of natives with spears and some with spatha, which caught Quintus' attention, but it was too late.

The natives entered the church and began a massacre, killing men and children, as well as raping women and then cruelly decapitating them. There were screams and more screams of horror until the church fell silent, no one who was at the mass survived and the enemy natives took Quintus' lifeless body and decapitated it, the one who seemed to be the leader of the natives spat on his head Quintus, lifeless, took a spear and pierced Quintus' head, got on his horse and made his macabre ride through the main streets of New Rome.

Until the Roman population and the natives converts to Catholicism rebel against the invaders and end up killing several enemy natives, this event became known as "The Macabre Easter" and put an end to the first period of the Theodosian Dynasty in power, meanwhile a new dynasty ascends to the power: The Agrippa Dynasty.

One day later

The situation that was once tense, became an erupting volcano, the political natives and the political Christian Romans claimed that the Mithraists betrayed their nation and killed the son of the discoverer who contributed greatly to the creation of this new Roman nation, with this act he only further reinforced that the Mithraists represent the worst of Roman civilization.

The pagan Roman politicians stated in turn that if the Christian God existed he would have saved him from an enemy native attack, if Quintus followed the path of Latium none of this would have happened and so it was started another heated debate between the two factions.

Until he arrives at the New Rome Forum, the Legatus Legionis Marcus Agrippa Septimus with an enemy native and he spoke in clumsy Latin that those responsible for the massacre that occurred the previous day were carried out at the behest of the Publius clan.

With this revelation, the pagan Roman politicians end up being arrested accused of conspiracy to murder Quintus and with that the atmosphere became even more tense, so Marcus unsheathes his spatha and as the military man with the most political influence and orders that a decree be made declaring the state's official religion next week, in the meantime the city of New Rome came under the control of Marcus Agrippa and his soldiers.

One week later

A meeting was held at what would become the seat of the imperial government a few years from now, to give the final verdict on what would be the official religion of the new nation that was emerging, with the support of the broad Most Roman politicians, the state of New Rome, professed their faith as Catholicism and this was made their official religion by the Edict of Easter.

Julian Walls

New Rome

A few hours later

Cicero Publius with over 50,000 Mithraist Roman soldiers and 15,000 enemy natives were besieging the city.

Catapults and battering rams tried to invade the city at all costs, the Roman soldiers loyal to Marcus bravely defended against the invaders.Until reinforcements arrived from the sea, the Roman navy, which was exploring other places in the new world, learned of Quintus' death and so took sides against the Mithraists and began bombarding against the pagans, with this factor Marcus' army being of 5,000 soldiers and more than 20,000 men able to fight, gained a moral boost and left the walls to fight against Cicero's army and Marcus himself leads in total more than 25,000 loyal to him against 65,000 who fought for money and positions under the likely emperor Cicero.

With the help of the navy, Marcus' army managed to defeat Cicero's army, causing his army to flee away from the battlefield, so on April 8, 477 AD, Marcus defeated Cicero's army, with over 30,000 soldiers loyal to Cicero killed, while 7,000 soldiers loyal to Marcus were killed.

With this victory, New Rome would not be besieged until the arrival of the Dutch in the distant 17th century. In addition, Cicero needed to take New Rome quickly to avoid the support of the navy and with that he had to retreat to the interior and reform his strategies to take New Rome, at that moment the Civil War began between the Mithraists supported by a part of the army, aristocrats and some native tribes and the Christians supported by the navy, a small part of the army that remained loyal to Marcus, a large majority of Roman Christian politicians, native Christian politicians, and the plebeians.

This war began after the betrayal of a large part of the Roman army and the failed siege of New Rome, so the war began on April 8, 477 and only ended on April 15, 486, with the foundation of the Caesarian Empire.
