The Valkyries' and knight forces' counterattack clearly had little effect on the black dragon, a result they found utterly unacceptable.
Just as the Valkyries' confidence was about to collapse again, they suddenly noticed a nun-dressed Valkyrie who had broken through the tornado and landed on the black dragon's back.
The nun had long silver-white hair and features that leaned toward the Eastern style, making her absolutely beautiful in the eyes of Easterners.
In her hand, she held a knight's spear—a strange, pitch-black knight's spear.
"It's Captain Miya!"
"Captain Miya?"
"The captain of the Aurora Squad. I heard the Aurora Squad went to the Arctic on a mission. I never thought they'd already returned."
"Captain Miya... That newly promoted A-rank Valkyrie. I heard she's exceptionally talented. Last year she was still a B-rank Valkyrie, but this year she directly became an A-rank Valkyrie and even became a squad captain. I heard the Bishop holds her in high regard."
The Valkyries below couldn't help but be astonished by the nun riding on the black dragon's back.
A newly promoted A-rank Valkyrie had actually evaded the black dragon's tornado.
"The black spear in her hand... isn't that Eleanor's old weapon?"
"..."
-
Standing on the black dragon's back, the nun Miya gripped the black spear with both hands and thrust it directly at the dragon's scales.
Sensing the nun's movement on its back, the black dragon suddenly felt a mortal danger. If it were to be pierced...
It would surely die...
The black dragon began to thrash wildly, trying to shake off the Valkyrie on its back. But... the Valkyrie's black spear had already reached the dragon's scales, poised to pierce through at any moment.
A crimson shadow suddenly flashed forward, appearing on the black dragon's back as well.
"What are you trying to do to my Inky?" came a cute voice as the red figure kicked the black spear from the Valkyrie's hand.
Then, with a forceful motion, the red figure snatched the black spear from the nun's grasp.
The nun's vision blurred momentarily before her weapon was snatched away. She looked up to find a delicate, adorable girl standing before her.
This in itself wasn't surprising. What shocked her were the bat-like wings on the girl's back, and behind them, a sinister crimson cross that seemed stained with blood.
This sight struck the nun deeply.
In this world... the cross held the same sacred significance to Schicksal as it did to Christianity.
Then the nun noticed Theresa's slightly parted lips, revealing two sharp fangs at the corners of her mouth, paired with those bat-like wings.
"Vampire!!"
A vampire wielding a Blood Cross... This existence completely contradicted Schicksal's principles.
Taking into account the vampire girl's earlier words, this black dragon was also her mount...
Heavens! Miya couldn't even begin to imagine what this vampire girl truly was. Schicksal had provided no information about vampires or black dragons.
Yet, she couldn't shake the feeling that this vampire before her bore a striking resemblance to Kallen.
"Return my weapon!"
Seeing the black knight's long spear in the vampire girl's grasp, Sister Miya immediately moved to reclaim it.
This spear had been entrusted to her by the Bishop himself - she held only the right to use it, not ownership. How could she possibly explain to the Bishop if she lost it?
Moreover, the weapon was incredibly dangerous, possessing the ability to disintegrate targets with a single strike.
"I took it by force! Why should I give it back?" Theresa retreated a step, her voice ringing with conviction as she faced the advancing nun.
"Damn it!"
The nun drew a gun from her waist and fired directly at Theresa.
However, Theresa held up the Blood Embrace with one hand, blocking the Honkai energy-infused bullet.
"This spear isn't meant for you. From now on... it's mine."
Theresa toyed with the black spear in her hand. This wasn't an ordinary weapon, but a divine key.
To be precise, it was half of a divine key.
It was a weapon made from the Herrscher Core of the Sixth Herrscher - the Herrscher of Death - designed to combat Honkai. A divine key that combined the power of decomposition and creation.
The Abyss Flower.
The Black Abyss and White Flower were two weapons, yet also one. The White Flower inherited the Sixth Herrscher's power of creation, granting it regenerative capabilities; the Black Abyss inherited the Sixth Herrscher's power of decay, granting it destructive capabilities.
Serenade had been mistaken last time - the Black Abyss had already appeared in this era long ago.
The Abyss Flower recorded its earliest owner as the Valkyrie whom Otto called "the strongest Valkyrie of our Schicksal" - the S-rank Valkyrie Reanna Brigantia, whom Schicksal considered their "last trump card."
But the Black Abyss within the Abyss Flower had actually appeared in the 15th century.
Its wielder... Eleanor Schariac.
This Valkyrie belonged to Kallen's squad, was saved by Otto, and thus developed feelings for him. Yet due to circumstances partly involving Otto, she was later killed by Kallen.
Why the Black Abyss would appear in the hands of this Valkyrie, whom Theresa had never even heard of, she could probably guess. It was likely that after Eleanor Schariac's death, Schicksal had reclaimed the Black Abyss and then transferred it to this Valkyrie before her.
However, the other part of the Abyss Flower, which inherited the power of [Creation] and possessed regenerative capabilities, remained unknown in its whereabouts.
If they could obtain the White Flower, the divine key of the Abyss Flower would be complete.
It must be understood that the significance of the Abyss Flower was no small matter. Every generation's master of the Abyss Flower had always been the most powerful Valkyrie of their time.
In this civilization, the Abyss Flower had always symbolized the strongest Valkyrie of Schicksal. From Reanna Brigantia in modern times to Cecilia Schariac and Durandal in the present era, it had always been so.
Only the most powerful Valkyrie was worthy of possessing this divine key.
Of course, this didn't count when it was separated. Otherwise, in this era, Kallen wouldn't have been the strongest Valkyrie, but rather Eleanor Schariac. (PS: Although Kallen's status as the strongest Valkyrie was partly due to Otto's exaggerations.)
Theresa played with the Black Abyss in her hand and decisively declared, "This weapon is mine."
A weapon with the strongest decomposition ability...
