Inside the pitch-black Nen Field, the two similar icy and malevolent Auras caused the people in the hall to misjudge the situation.
They believed that the surge of Aura from within the Nen Field belonged to Stargie's Nen, leading them to elevate their perception of Stargie's power to an even higher level. However, this was not the case.
The sudden eruption and abrupt silence felt like the momentum of a blade being raised, followed by the stillness after it falls.
Although they they couldn't see what was happening inside the Nen Field, they all arrived at the same conclusion: Law was most likely killed by the explosive power of Stargie.
'We have no choice but to give up.'
Uncle Bill and his group stared helplessly at the surging pitch-black Nen Field, which loomed before them like an insurmountable beast, mercilessly blocking their path to wealth.
Even Biscuit and Atomu had the thought of giving up. They were strong enough to understand that Post-Mortem Nen operated without any logic.
Against such an overwhelming force, they had no countermeasures, unless they could find a Nen Exorcist even stronger than Law to assist them.
'No... there was no need to give up. This was actually a perfect opportunity!'
Just as thoughts of retreat surfaced in their minds, they were immediately snuffed out.
Almost at the same time, everyone's gaze shifted toward the gemstone pendant on Stargie's body and the stone harp beside her.
Now that Stargie's Post-Mortem Nen had left her body, her body nothing more than a cold corpse, posing no further threat. Meanwhile, the pitch-black Nen Field seemed to be fully occupied with consuming Law, leaving it no time to focus on them.
In other words… this was the perfect opportunity to seize the stone harp and gemstone pendant!
These two things are both priceless. If they can get them, this trip wouldn't have been in vain!
Swoosh!
Except for Biscuit, everyone suddenly sprang into action, wanting to take the stone harp and gemstone pendant before the Nen turned its attention to them!
'Greed blinds people, and it's often the root cause of their demise." Biscuit remained still, and just watched the other' actions calmly.
That Nen Field was indeed not targeting them, and now was indeed an opportunity to take the treasures. However, in the end, only the strongest would have the last laugh.
When Atomu blocked the stone gate and Uncle Bill attacked him with his Nen Ability, the seeds of conflict had already been sown.
Given the current situation, if the weaker party does not understand the situation clearly, they will only put themselves in danger of death.
As a bystander, Biscuit could only feel regret for Uncle Bill's behavior, regret that felt more like pity.
She lamented how, for years, Uncle Bill had painfully refrained from seizing countless 'booby-trapped cakes', carefully picking only the safe ones. But now, he had finally lost control!
Atomu looked at the three people rushing in front, smiled coldly, and rushed towards Uncle Bill.
He also had his eyes on the gemstone pendant, the stone harp, and even Stargie's body. However, he was calmer than Uncle Bill and did not rush to the treasures first, but rushed to Uncle Bill instead.
Blinded by this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Uncle Bill made a fatal misjudgment, and the price would be his life.
A powerful surge of Aura erupted from behind him. In that instant, Uncle Bill felt a bone-chilling fear. He only had time to mobilize his Aura to defend himself and barely turn his head.
What met his eyes was a massive, fan-like hand brimming with overwhelming Aura.
One second? No, not even that.
This was the time before death.
As this thought flashed through Uncle Bill's mind, before he could even register despair, his consciousness plunged into darkness.
Crack!
Luby and Aya were startled by the sound. When they looked back, they saw Atomu gripping Uncle Bill's face with his left hand and twisting his head off with brute force.
"Uncle Bill!" The two shouted in panic.
Atomu, holding the severed head, planted his feet and skidded backward slightly, flashing them a chilling grin, with his white teeth glinting menacingly.
Splurt!
A moment later, blood gushed from Uncle Bill's neck, and his headless plump body collapsed forward onto the ground.
"You…!"
Luby and Aya glared furiously at Atomu.
"Money or your life? It's a simple choice. What do you think?"
Atomu gripped Uncle Bill's head tightly and with a sudden squeeze, crushed it like a watermelon.
Seeing this scene, Luby and Aya trembled violently but, without hesitation, continued rushing toward the stone harp and gemstone pendant.
Seeing the choice the two made, Atomu snorted coldly, then swung his left hand sharply, flinging off the blood staining his palm before chasing after them.
The reason he killed Uncle Bill first was simple, he needed to break the Zetsu on his right hand.
At this moment, the three of them had their own plans and were all rushing towards the treasures.
'Go ahead and grab it. Anyway, Stargie's Tear will be mine.'
Biscuit folded her arms and calmly observed everything happening inside the hall.
'It's a pity about that kid, though. He died before the evaluation even ended. Chairman, this isn't me slacking off.'
She thought to herself in silence.
Everyone assumed Law was dead, but he wasn't.
Right now, he was utterly confused, unaware that people outside were fighting over the stone harp and gemstone pendant.
The initial damage caused by the Nen Field disappeared out of thin air after the Aura from the book appeared. Soon after, he was certain he had been trapped in an illusion.
Deafening cheers echoed across the black-and-white sky.
Law stood atop a building, and everything he saw was in shades of black and white.
It was a bustling ancient city, with crowds surging through the streets. Many people held flowers, gazing in awe and reverence toward the center of the main street.
In the middle of the street, a long procession moved slowly from the other side. The crowd on both sides focused their eyes on the leading figure on horseback, cheering loudly and tossing flowers as they drew near.
There wasn't a single person inside the houses lining the street. Despite the crowded streets, no one stood on balconies or rooftops, as being above the procession would be considered disrespectful.
Law turned his gaze to the woman on horseback, then glanced at Stargie, who is standing not far from him.
It was the same person. The difference was that the Stargie on horseback wore armor and has a solemn expression, like a Valkyrie.
Meanwhile, the Stargie standing nearby wore light makeup and a red dress, like a girl about to get married. She looks like the one at the tomb.
Finally, Law looked ahead at a strange, cat-like creature hovering before him.
Its silver vertical pupils stared at him intensely, as if assessing a meal and contemplating where to take the first bite.
Law wasn't sure if it could truly be called a cat, though it closely resembled one.
The creature was about the size of an ordinary house cat, covered in pitch-black fur, with only its silver eyes standing out. While its overall appearance was feline, it had several unique traits.
Its ears were long and pointed, its cat-like silver eyes devoid of a nose or whiskers. Instead, three sharp spikes protruded from either side of its cheeks, seemingly replacing the whiskers. Its mouth was tightly concealed within the dark fur, making it hard to see.
Beyond its unusual eyes, the most striking feature was its long, slender tail, which is twice the length of its body and curled into a spiral.
This black cat had emerged from the book and was the source of the ominous Aura.
After its appearance, Law was dragged into the illusion. He suspected the cat viewed him as its next meal.
Perhaps because of the cat's presence, the Stargie on the rooftop did nothing and just kept whispering to herself, radiating intense hostility, but did not make any move to attack him.
'What the hell is going on…!'
Law was completely bewildered.
