Chapter 260 Investigation and Suspicion

Law felt it's better to deal with the hassle now than to face even greater trouble later.

Behind the Heavens Arena is the Hunter Association and even the shadow of V5, so Law couldn't afford to act too recklessly.

If he wanted to check the surveillance footage without leaving a trace, he would need Kuro's help.

Law did not take back the poison that Kuro had swallowed. Instead, he brought Kuro back into the passage and made Kuro slightly deform before the audience came out.

After that, Law took Kuro to an area near the surveillance room and let the cat act alone. Meanwhile, Law took the elevator down to a lower floor.

After Kuro started to act alone, he behaved like a domestic cat, strolling leisurely through the corridors.

When he reached the area outside the surveillance room, he walked back and forth a few times, and after determining the locations of the cameras, he began to work.

The method he uses is very simple: destroy the cameras, then transform into a smoke-like form to infiltrate the surveillance room and deliver the spurred sea slug's poison to the staff inside.

The staff members had no idea what was happening before they collapsed into a deep sleep.

The dimly lit surveillance room was filled with rows of glowing screens.

The uniformed staff lay unconscious beside their chairs, while a black cat sat on one of the seats, his silver eyes gleaming with intrigue, creating an eerie atmosphere up close.

A moment later, the floor of the surveillance room suddenly flipped open like a manhole cover, and a person jumped out from underneath.

"Too slow."

Kuro exuded the aura of a top-tier agent. He glanced at Law with a sidelong glance, and there was a hint of disappointment in his tone, but at the next second, his tone shifted.

He was very excited and asked eagerly: "What are we going to do next?"

Law simply ignored Kuro and rushed to the surveillance screens, fumbling around like a toddler learning to walk as he tried to figure out how to operate the system.

All the staff members were poisoned with the spurred sea slug's poison. It was not fatal, but it would make them fell asleep for a long time, so Law had plenty of time to figure things out.

It took Law about half an hour to barely grasp the basics. Fortunately, the surveillance system's controls weren't overly complicated.

He located the footage from the cameras near the passage exit, rewound the time, and pulled up the relevant images.

On the screen, Hisoka was lying on a stretcher, carried by two staff members, while a middle-aged man in a black shirt walked ahead.

When the camera zoomed in, Law could see that Hisoka's eyes were tightly shut, showing that he had fallen unconscious.

Meanwhile, the two staff members moved in a somewhat unnatural manner but at an unusually fast pace.

Their movements appeared to be walking, but their speed was more akin to running.

'It's him...'

Law's expression shifted slightly. Following the movements of the four individuals, he gradually pulled up more footage and discovered that Hisoka hadn't been taken to the medical room.

Instead, they had taken the elevator directly to the first floor and exited Heavens Arena.

Law didn't recognize the middle-aged man in the black shirt, but he did recognize the bead-headed needles embedded in his head and face, as it was Illumi's unique needles.

'From the way they moved, the two staff members must had become needle people, while the middle-aged man walked normally, which means that although there were needles on his face, he was not a needle person.'

'So that means, Illumi disguised himself with his needles and Nen Ability.'

Law wasn't particularly concerned about Illumi's presence here.

Once he confirmed Hisoka's whereabouts, he reset the surveillance footage to its normal state and took a look at where Machi and the others were. He then saw they were still waiting for him at the meeting point.

Silently apologizing in his heart, Law signaled Kuro to retreat. Using the circular section of the floor he had cut out earlier, he jumped down to the lower level while using his Nen Ability to restore the hole he had created.

After going through the trouble of checking the surveillance footage and learning that Hisoka had been taken away by Illumi, Law realized that it was already too late to do anything about it.

Law hadn't expected Hisoka to make such preparations, nor could he understand what was going on in Hisoka's head. He could only hope that this painful lesson would make Hisoka think twice about causing him trouble in the future.

"That's it?" Kuro, having returned to his original form, sat on Law's shoulder, clearly unsatisfied.

"Let's go back."

In the empty room, Law raised his right hand and signaled Kuro to return to the back of his hand.

"Tsk, don't forget to prepare an imperial feast for me tonight!" Kuro tossed out the remark before shrinking back into the back of Law's hand, transforming into a cool silver flame tattoo.

The 'imperial feast' Black Cat mentioned wasn't an actual imperial feast, but rather referred to the sheer quantity of food for dinner. Moreover, one hundred dishes might not be enough for him.

Law left the room and headed towards the meeting point to reunite with Machi and the others. After reaching there, he inevitably had to endure a barrage of critiques about his tardiness.

After all, he had made Machi and the others waited for over forty minutes.

After regrouping, the group headed out to raid the food streets. They only returned to their rooms at Heavens Arena after nightfall to begin their daily Nen Training.

The longer they spent together, the more Uvogin and the others began to realize just how formidable Biscuit was. It was clear that her guidance was the reason behind Law's rapid growth in strength.

They also wanted Biscuit to teach them, but were ruthlessly rejected by Biscuit with a very simple reason: She was too busy.

Law couldn't help them with this. After all, once his fight with Atomu was over, Biscuit would leave immediately.

Law knew very well that whether it was Uvogin and the others or Hisoka, they were all in the process of growing. Even without his interference, they would all become top-tier Nen Users within ten years.

It was clear that Uvogin and the others had a strong desire to grow stronger, but Law didn't plead their case to Biscuit. He knew her well enough to understand that even if he tried to leverage their relationship, it would be futile.

Whether or not she chose to teach someone depended entirely on her own mood and decisions. Even Netero, whom she respected, couldn't sway her, let alone Law.

That night, after their usual training session, Law took a hot shower and enjoyed a massage from Cookie.

Biscuit sat on the sofa, flipping through a magazine filled with handsome men, while Buhara, feeling hungry again, went out to find food.

Sanbica occupied the room's computer, diligently working on her projects, while Kuro took a bunch of snacks and ate while watching TV.

Uvogin and Nobunaga went to a bar for drinks, and Machi crouched by the bed, studying Cookie's massage techniques. She noticed that when the strength was increased tenfold, the massage technique could dislocate bones in various places.

After making this discovery, she brought it up.

Law, who had been enjoying the massage, was shocked and quickly asked Cookie if it was true.

After hearing what Law said, Cookie didn't say anything and still had her unchanging smile on her face. While her smile usually seemed comforting, this time it felt a little terrifying to Law.

On the sofa, Biscuit lowered the magazine she had been holding in front of her face and glanced at Law, who was casually joking around. She was a little surprised that Law didn't seem nervous at all, even though his fight with Atomu was coming up soon.

Of course, not being nervous was a good thing. Being able to relax before a match was a positive sign.

The atmosphere in the room was warm and relaxed, but no one noticed that Sanbica, who was sitting in front of the computer, was gradually starting to look uneasy.
