A New Feeling

The night had passed slowly, bringing a sensation Dante had thought he'd forgotten. It felt good knowing that the feeling had been mutual.

Despite having been with countless women in his past life, none of them truly loved him. They had all pursued his wealth, something he hadn't cared about back then but now considered a treasure.

Dante was awakened by the sound of movement outside the room where he had been resting.

He opened his eyes to see Susie lying beside him, peacefully asleep. It seemed she had been carrying a heavy burden for some time, and now, with her worries eased, she rested serenely.

When Dante looked at Susie, her body tensed.

"What time is it?"

"Not too late, but not too early either…" Dante replied, sitting up and checking his phone.

Susie did the same, noticing a strange message. "My brother is stable now," she said softly.

Dante stood up, searching for something to eat. The house had plenty of supplies, and he found frozen meals ready to heat.

"Do you like ramen? It seems they've started making it frozen now…"

Susie nodded, her expression indifferent. Complaining about food seemed absurd at the moment.

Dante and many others had exhausted themselves in a brutal battle the night before. Now, perhaps the Order was searching for them, but Dante had a plan in mind.

They ate in silence, placing the food on a small table.

Susie kept her head down, feeling strange. She had never experienced anything like this before and wasn't sure how to act. The last time, she had been drunk, but this time she was fully aware.

Dante, on the other hand, ate his ramen while reading a detailed report about the situation. "We're going to meet with a high-ranking member of the Order. We must demand an explanation, or I'll be forced to take extreme measures."

"Can I stay by your side?" Susie asked, her eyes searching his face for an answer.

"Do you want to be by my side? I take this very seriously. The things you'll witness might be hard to process."

"I can handle it…" Susie had made her decision—she wanted to face the future with Dante.

Dante nodded. These were moments he wanted to look back on later, but for now, they needed to resolve the issues affecting so many.

"As my fiancée, you'll have to stand by my side when I meet with the man responsible for your brother's near-death, the massacre of the workers you considered family, and someone who won't act kindly."

"I can endure anything…" Truthfully, Susie wasn't sure what she would have done if her brother had died. But since he hadn't, she could remain composed.

Dante wanted Susie to witness everything so she could later inform her father.

"Later, we'll visit your father. I'll send a petition to the High Order. While that's in process, we won't be targeted by the assassins likely hunting us right now," Dante explained as he dressed in a black suit he found nearby.

Susie stood as well, walking to a wardrobe where she found suitable clothing.

But first, they cleaned their wounds and the blood on their bodies—a process that didn't take long. After a few hours, they were ready to leave.

"Boss, welcome," a man greeted Dante, holding a wooden box adorned with the purple coin symbolizing Dante's title.

Dante, who didn't outwardly appear important, wielded power. With the Jiménez cartel at his side, he had enough influence to cause significant damage to the High Order.

Beside the purple coin were two rings of a similar design. Dante understood their significance and took them. "Give me your hand, Susie…"

Susie extended her right hand, puzzled, but when Dante slipped the ring onto her finger, she understood. This was a formality. The Order adhered to its old traditions, and this was a ceremony that couldn't be skipped.

"So now it's official," Susie said, taking Dante's hand to place the other ring on his finger.

Dante smiled, extending his arm to help her into the SUV. After ensuring everything was in order, he climbed in as well.
