Chapter 206: A Madman's Sniping Mode

"Akari" and Hayato walked side by side, their steps light but determined, without sparing a glance back. They weren't intentionally abandoning Kanto; their habitual lone-wolf attitudes made them naturally drift apart, and Kanto's brash personality didn't inspire camaraderie.

Usagi turned to Akari, her voice trembling with a mix of urgency and reproach. "Akari, aren't you going to help?"

Akari lazily lifted her gaze, her expression morphing into Akane's characteristic saccharine smile. "Oh, come on. Fighting isn't my thing. It's so far away anyway. Besides, my brother's sleeping, and I wouldn't dare wake him up—" She stretched languidly and stifled a small yawn, her demeanor indifferent to the chaos around her.

She waved dismissively. "Alright, alright, let's keep going. Forget about Kanto."

Usagi stood silently to the side, her expression unreadable. The choices of these so-called allies didn't bother her. She simply watched Akari and Hayato's retreating backs, her gaze lingering on Akari, filled with confusion. Was this what "companionship" looked like? No, they weren't companions at all. These lunatics could never grasp the concept of teamwork. Her attention shifted to Kanto, observing his next move.

Kanto stood firm, a twisted grin on his face but with icy determination in his eyes. His gaze darted across the scattered parts suspended in mid-air, as precise as a scanning machine engraving every detail into his mind. Suddenly, he let out a low chuckle, exhaling a wisp of steam. "Heh... a CHEAT-type ability user, huh?"

His voice carried a foreboding weight, chilling the very air around him.

Far off in the distance, Lixy adjusted her sniper scope once more, her finger gently tightening on the trigger.

"Period."

Bang!

Another deafening explosion tore through the plains, fire and shockwaves sweeping up grass and debris in a violent whirlwind. Lixy's cold eyes never wavered from the figure consumed by the blast, her tone detached and icy. "On this open plain, you've nowhere to hide. Even armed, you're utterly powerless."

But before she could finish her thought, her scope suddenly went blank. In the next instant, her expression froze. Kanto's figure had propelled into the air, his jacket billowing in the wind like a wild and defiant banner.

"This guy…" Lixy's heart skipped a beat as her grip on the rifle tightened. She couldn't comprehend how Kanto had pulled it off—he had used the explosion's force to launch himself skyward!

"RAAAAAHHHH!!!"

Kanto's furious roar cut through the open plains like a tempest, shaking the ground below. Suspended mid-air, he resembled a raging falcon. His hands moved with such blinding speed that they became a blur, the sharp clink of metal components colliding ringing out like a downpour of steel rain.

In just two seconds, the scattered gun parts coalesced in his hands, assembling into two gleaming pistols as though guided by an unseen force. The weapons settled naturally into his grip, as if they were extensions of his very being. Kanto glanced at his creations, his lips curling into a maniacal grin. With a flick of his finger, the guns let out a sharp click, a sound that echoed like a declaration of dominance.

Lixy's pupils constricted, a flicker of hesitation breaking through her icy demeanor. "Photographic memory... And he actually managed to assemble them under these conditions?"

Kanto's wild laughter filled the night sky, his twisted grin merging with the cold gleam of his weapons. Hovering mid-air, his breathing was heavy, like the growl of a beast from the depths of hell. He raised his pistols toward the heavens, unleashing a chaotic hail of bullets that screamed through the air, threatening to tear the sky apart.

Lixy stood frozen, her gaze locked onto Kanto's erratic movements, utterly perplexed by his actions. "What's he doing? Wasting ammo?"

But Kanto paid no heed to her doubts. Abruptly, his movements stopped, and he disassembled the pistols mid-air. The parts scattered like a metallic waterfall, but his hands moved faster than the eye could follow. His fingers danced in a frenzy, the rapid clinking of metal forming a symphony of mechanical rage.

Lixy's breath caught in her throat. In mere seconds, Kanto had reconstructed two massive shotguns. These weapons exuded an even more menacing aura than the pistols. Their barrels were thicker, their muzzles flaring slightly outward like the gaping maws of predatory beasts.

Kanto raised the shotguns again, unleashing a relentless barrage of scattershots into the sky. The deafening explosions and streaking fire merged into a symphony of destruction, the acrid scent of gunpowder filling the air.

Amid the gunfire, the true spectacle unfolded. The originally chaotic trajectories of the bullets began to shift, colliding mid-air and altering their paths in an uncanny, coordinated manner. The projectiles seemed to defy logic, tracing intricate arcs in the sky before redirecting toward the ground with deadly precision.

Lixy's eyes widened in shock as the bullets painted the sky with a fiery brilliance, a macabre dance of death that overshadowed any pyrotechnic display. The seemingly aimless patterns condensed into a swarm of projectiles heading straight for her.

Time seemed to freeze. Lixy stood motionless, her body encased in a cage of cold dread. The bullets descended like a meteor shower, their dazzling light cloaked in lethal intent. Her trembling fingers tightened around her rifle as cold sweat dripped from her brow. Her breath hitched as her mind struggled to process what was happening.

"This can't be…" Her voice was barely audible, lost in the overwhelming tide of terror.

As the bullets rained down like vengeful stars, Lixy's diminutive figure stood stark against the encroaching onslaught, fragile and exposed. The nightmarish storm bore down on her, leaving no room for escape.
