Chapter 240: The Nightmare of the Enemy

"This lunatic... he's not human at all!!" Pisces screamed internally, her thoughts swirling into a chaotic storm. She wanted to run, but her legs felt as if they had been filled with lead, rendering her motionless. The scene before her was like a demonic painting, each second crushing her will. The whip in her hand trembled, barely staying within her grip.

Yet, Hayato showed no mercy. His laughter echoed through the night sky, resembling a death knell summoning his victims. He spread his arms wide in an exaggerated welcome, his hoarse yet wild voice roaring, "Come on! All of you at once—!!!"

His tone brimmed with provocation and disdain, yet no one dared to respond. The assassins exchanged anxious glances, their faces betraying unmistakable fear. Some had already begun to retreat silently.

At this moment, Hayato was no longer just an obscure nobody. He had transformed into an unstoppable nightmare, forcing Pisces and her group into utter despair.

Gemini moved swiftly across the ruins, his katana reflecting the pale moonlight, exuding an inescapable killing intent as he charged straight at Hayato. His swordsmanship was as swift as the wind, each strike infused with lethal precision. At the same time, Pisces barked out orders, and the assassins simultaneously raised their weapons, unleashing a barrage of multicolored energy beams towards Hayato.

The sky was instantly woven into a dazzling net of light, flames and energy waves intertwining into a deafening roar. The beams bombarded from all directions, attempting to corner Hayato. However, his movements were as fluid as a willow swaying in the wind, weaving effortlessly between the incoming attacks.

His actions resembled a frenzied yet calculated dance. He leaped, ducked, and even bent backward at an extreme angle to narrowly evade a chain of laser beams. Each dodge was executed with surgical precision, as if the attacks were intentionally avoiding him rather than the other way around.

Pisces stood frozen, her eyes widening in disbelief as she shrieked, "Impossible... impossible!!! He's just a normal human!!"

Suddenly, Hayato halted. He bent backward like a baseball pitcher preparing to throw a fastball. The stance looked bizarre, yet the suffocating killing intent he exuded made every assassin present hold their breath. Some instinctively raised their defenses, sensing that his "throw" would be an apocalyptic strike.

However, in the next moment, Hayato hurled nothing but empty air.

"What?!" The assassins hesitated for a brief second, realizing the trick too late. By the time they registered the deception, Hayato had already become a blur, closing in on one of them like a bolt of lightning. His fist struck the assassin's jaw with the force of a cannonball.

The assassin's mouth exploded in a shower of blood, teeth scattering like autumn leaves caught in a storm. Before his agonized scream could escape, Hayato's fist transformed into a claw, his fingers like talons piercing into the man's throat.

"Splurt!"

His sharp fingers tore through flesh and windpipe alike, sending a fountain of blood gushing out. As Hayato withdrew his hand, he snatched up a handful of the very teeth he had just shattered. Moving with inhuman speed, he gripped the teeth, flexed his wrist, and launched them like bullets at another assassin.

In the next second, the second assassin's body was riddled with thirty-six minuscule holes, each a precise impact point from the airborne teeth. Blood gushed from his body as he collapsed lifelessly, unable to even utter a death cry.

High above, Gemini bore witness to it all, his fury igniting into an uncontrollable blaze. His katana pointed directly at Hayato, his eyes burning with rage. "What the hell are you?!"

Hayato merely tilted his head slightly, a sinister grin stretching across his bloodstained face. "A monster? No, I'm just a human."

In that moment, Hayato's existence shattered the ability users' perception of what a "normal human" should be. His sheer madness and killing intent became an unending nightmare, smothering every last assassin present.

Among them, a burly man trembled in terror, raising his hand in an attempt to unleash a charged energy blast. "D-die... die already!" His voice shook violently. However, before he could finish his words, a ghostly shadow had already appeared right before him.

"Hiss—!"

Like a ravenous beast, Hayato lunged forward and sank his teeth into the assassin's palm. His razor-sharp bite tore through flesh and tendons, severing muscle from bone. The assassin gawked at his now-exposed hand, where the flesh had been stripped clean, leaving only a bare skeleton. His horror gave way to a bloodcurdling scream, his sanity crumbling in the face of such brutality.

But Hayato showed no mercy. His hands shot out like steel traps, clamping around the man's throat. With a savage pull, he tore the assassin's windpipe and carotid artery apart, sending another crimson spray into the air. The corpse fell limply to the ground.

Hayato turned, his blood-drenched gaze locking onto another assassin. With a feral snarl, he pounced like a starving wolf, sinking his teeth into the man's neck. The sickening crunch of muscle tearing and arteries rupturing filled the air as another body crumpled lifelessly.

Hayato spat out the torn flesh and blood, his lips curling into a maniacal grin. His deep, frenzied laughter reverberated like an unholy chant from the abyss. As his gaze swept over the remaining assassins, they felt a deathly chill pierce through their souls.

Pisces, struggling to maintain composure, rasped, "Don't be afraid! He's only using his bare hands… He… he must be out of weapons! Kill him!!"

Despite her desperate words, her quivering voice betrayed her fear. And those assassins? Their trembling weapons spoke louder than any words.

At that moment, Gemini descended from above, his grip tightening around his katana, his gaze sharp as an eagle's. Without a word, he swung his blade, his swordsmanship reaching its pinnacle as countless slashes formed a shimmering, impenetrable mist.

"Dance, Buroumon!!"

Each strike carried the force of a storm, the slashes cutting through the air with piercing sonic booms. The sheer speed and ferocity of his technique could shred steel like paper. Yet, Hayato simply stood there, tilting his head slightly, a sneering smile playing on his lips.

"Ahahaha! You call that swordsmanship?"

His body twisted in an uncanny rhythm, dodging the incoming slashes with an unnatural grace. Though the blade edges barely grazed his skin, they never found their mark.

Gemini's relentless attacks proved futile against Hayato's ghostly evasions. But before he could react, a bloodied hand clamped onto his shoulder from behind.

In that instant, Gemini's world tilted into horror.

Hayato whispered darkly into his ear, his voice dripping with madness. "Let's dance for real, shall we?"
