Chapter 222 Why did she look so pleased? Part2

Betty moved to the side of the living room, near a potted plant, as far away from the bathroom as possible.

She took several deep breaths before pressing the answer button.

"Hello..."

I greeted her simply, my voice hoarse.

I used to call her "honey" right away, but not this time.

People might expect me to start yelling and cursing right after picking up the phone, but I didn't.

I was eerily calm, just greeted her and waited for Betty's response.

It wasn't that I wasn't angry; I was furious to the point of being eerily calm.

"Honey, I've been waiting for your call. Are you still up? Can you talk?" Betty's voice was cheerful on the other end.

Though a flicker of nervousness crossed her face, her tone was genuinely excited, not something that seemed feigned.

No matter how genuine her expression and tone, I couldn't bring myself to believe her; her joyful expression looked so ugly to me.
