Chapter 239 Finding no trace of anything

I decided to head home first to check things out. One thing I needed to be sure of was whether Betty had taken her birth control pills. Were they in her purse? Regardless of whether Michael finished inside or not, even pulling out isn't safe. Just the bare contact earlier could lead to pregnancy, albeit the chances were slim.

"Alright, I'll be home in an hour." After hanging up the phone, I shut down my laptop, did a final check on various surveillance devices, and left the cabin. I drove the old van towards home.

Betty hadn't come to the courtyard this afternoon. Instead, she had declined Michael's request and rushed back home, which eased my mind a bit. That was also why I was now eager to get back. Plus, there were some issues I needed to verify for myself.

As I drove, I felt a bit more relaxed. No matter the outcome, I needed to understand everything. Even if it killed me, I wanted to die knowing the truth.
