Chef’s Palace was a modest looking restaurant atypical to the usual fancy places she had been to for lunch, and it had a homely feeling to it. It was a semi- open space with polished wooden chairs and tables occupying the exterior, while there were square sofas positioned strategically at the corners that provided some form of privacy for dinner dates such as the one Jasmine and Cory were currently in the middle of. 


Cory, leads her to one of the corners and offers her a seat in a typically gentlemanly fashion, with Jasmine smiling uncontrollably at the romantic gesture. 


Cory had been here on multiple occasions, as the place was owned by Juanita’s only surviving brother, Uncle Ray, who was Cory’s God parent and one of the few people Cory had grown to trust. 


“This is beautiful” Jasmine says as she looks around 


“Uncle Ray would love to hear that” Cory tells her as he walks over to the counter 


“That would be me love!” a voice answers, from behind
