Chapter 34 kael's First Move
The air in the room grew tense the moment Jace's gaze hardened. Anita had just walked into the living room, still shaken from her confrontation with Max and Claire. She had hoped for a moment of peace, but Jace stood by the window, staring into the distance as if sensing something she couldn't.
"Ani," Jace said, his voice low, his usual calm demeanor slipping. "We need to talk."
Anita froze. She could hear the urgency in his tone. "What’s wrong?"
Before Jace could answer, a gust of wind whipped through the room, though the windows were closed. It felt unnatural, cold and sharp, carrying with it a whispered hiss that sent a chill down Anita’s spine.
Then, the wind settled, and a figure appeared in front of them, flickering into existence like a mirage.
The spirit was tall, draped in flowing black robes with eyes that gleamed like burning coals. It was unlike anything Anita had seen before—its presence was almost suffocating.
