Chapter 81: Pressure from All Sides
The air in the classroom was stifling as Anita sat at her desk, staring blankly at the half-finished worksheet in front of her. Numbers blurred together, and the sound of the teacher’s voice was a distant hum. She rubbed her temples, feeling the weight of sleepless nights and endless battles pressing down on her. Balancing her schoolwork and the fight against Kael had become impossible.
“Anita,” Mr. Palmer, her math teacher, called out. His stern gaze bore into her. “Do you have the answer to question six?”
She blinked, caught off guard. “Uh… I… no, sir. I don’t.”
A few muffled giggles rippled through the class, but Anita barely noticed. Mr. Palmer sighed heavily. “See me after class.”
The bell rang moments later, and Anita gathered her books sluggishly, dragging herself to Mr. Palmer’s desk.
