The calm after the storm felt surreal. The air was quiet, almost unnervingly so, as if the world itself were holding its breath. Anita sat in the grass, staring at the horizon, her mind still grappling with the enormity of what had just happened.

Jace was the first to break the silence. “We’re alive,” he said softly, his tone laced with disbelief. His tails, usually hidden, flickered briefly before vanishing again. The faint glow of the fox bead in his chest faded back into dormancy.

Kael ran a hand through his hair, his sword resting on his lap. “Barely. That thing… the Architect. I’ve fought monsters, but nothing like that.”

Anita turned to him, her expression tired but resolute. “It wasn’t just a monster. It was something ancient, something beyond our understanding. And now it’s gone.”
