Chapter 103: Shadows Within
As they moved deeper into the dark path, the shadows seemed to take on a life of their own. They twisted and writhed like living tendrils, occasionally brushing against Anita, Jace, and Kael, sending chills down their spines.
The whispers grew into murmurs, then into voices. Each step they took brought new sounds—mocking laughter, anguished cries, and distant echoes of battles long past.
“What is this place even made of?” Jace muttered, his eyes darting around. “It’s like it’s reading my mind and turning it into a horror show.”
“Stay focused,” Anita said, her voice firm. “That’s exactly what it wants. Fear feeds the darkness.”
Kael walked at the rear, his sword drawn, the sharp ring of its edge a faint comfort. “If it feeds on fear, we’ll give it nothing.”
