Chapter 115: The Elder's Trial
The temple loomed before them, its massive doors carved with intricate patterns of foxes, flames, and swirling Threads. Anita stood in awe, the ancient structure radiating power that made her skin tingle. Jace, however, remained tense, his tails flicking uneasily as he stared at the entrance.
“This is it,” he said quietly. “Once we step inside, there’s no turning back.”
Anita nodded, clutching her bag tightly. “I didn’t come all this way to stop now.”
The spirit that had guided them gestured toward the doors. “The elder awaits. He has been watching.”
Anita felt a chill at the spirit’s words but didn’t let it show. She and Jace pushed open the heavy doors together, the ancient stone groaning in protest.
