Chapter 125: The Hidden Truth
The forest grew denser as Anita and Jace ventured deeper, the trees towering above them like silent sentinels, their branches entwined, blocking out most of the moonlight. The path had long since disappeared, swallowed up by the thick underbrush, but Anita’s instincts guided her forward. She felt the pull of the Threads once more, stronger now, as though they were leading her to something important—or something dangerous.
"How much farther?" Jace asked, his voice barely audible over the whisper of the wind.
Anita didn’t answer immediately, her gaze fixed ahead. The silence around them was oppressive, almost suffocating. But she could feel it now—the change in the air, the shift in the very fabric of the world around her. The Threads were guiding her, yes, but they were also pulling her toward something she wasn’t sure she was ready for.
"Not much," she replied finally, her voice strained. "We’re close."
