A peculiar dead silence enveloped the town as Anita and Jace pulled into the place. The prosperous establishment transformed into a deserted scene where several abandoned houses displayed wide-opened doors while their residents seemed to rush away from their homes without warning. The shadows cast around the buildings seemed abnormally thick as they drifted without any breeze. 


Anita held her dagger tightly in her grasp as she checked behind her to look at Jace. "This feels wrong." 


Jace slowly nodded as he scanned the entire area with his golden eyes. "It’s too quiet. Whichever forces struck this place did not occur through natural means. 


They had placed the injured man with allies at a mile distance because he lacked enough strength to keep walking. They entered an evil heart by themselves. 


Anita followed a long natural breath before she released it. "So, what’s the plan?"
