Morning sunlight entered through Anita’s window pane to create a golden glow on her features. The lack of sleep during the night followed her awakening since her encounter with Jace.
She remained there holding his body until she refused to release him. At that brief instant she believed their unspoken emotions started to change toward one another.
The moment he extracted himself his face lost all its warmth.
"Go home, Anita."
She felt deep pain from his statement although she tried to push the feeling away.
She paused in front of the mirror while she took a full breath before finding inner strength.
Being unable to lose control was essential for her current situation.
She felt unable to fall apart because another thing was shaping her life at that moment.
The mirror revealed her reflection but her features appeared wrong to her.
