Chapter 184: Fractured Trust
Anita barely slept that night.
The stranger's words repeated in her thoughts to intensify the doubts she already felt inside her.
"Why is Jace lying to you?"
She spent a restless night even though she kept trying to ignore the truth which continued to bite at her. Jace knew about an important secret which he had concealed from Anita. Did she overhear that conversation because he never planned to reveal the truth to her?
The morning arrived as Anita sustained herself using nothing but adrenaline along with her constant frustration. As soon as she walked through the school gates she retrieved her cell phone to text Jace immediately.
Anita: We need to talk. Now.
No response.
She held her jaw tight while gripping her phone during her rushed passage through the busy hallways. The abundance of sensory impressions had not dissipated from her experience. The condition continued to deteriorate without any signs of improvement.
