Chapter 196: A Fractured Bond & A New Threat 


The sound of a gasp escaped from Jace’s throat as his knees gave way to weakness. The fox bead on his chest showed an unstable pattern of dim light and faint illumination. His body started to jerk while his breathing turned heavy as he held his chest to fight off the power that threatened to overrun him from inside. 


“Jace!” Anita rushed toward him with panic in her voice to stop his body from hitting the floor. His heavy weight did not register on her as she scanned his face for fear because all she saw was fear in his usually collected eyes. 


A strange hot energy traveled through her veins as soon as she made contact with his body. 


A burning sensation wrapped her chest before it spread uncontrollably. The shift inside of her body made her heart race while her breaths became shallow. The strange awakening which came as no pain but as an awareness struck her entire being deeply.
