Joe's new opponent, Mikhail "The Storm King" Andropov, was a legendary name not only in the world of boxing, but in the entire fighting arena. Mikhail was a powerful strategist, a cold-blooded fighter, who outwitted his opponents not only with physical skills, but also with mental games. During one of Joe's training sessions, Lena said, "Mikhail is a man who can beat you mentally. But you also have a weapon: speed, agility and strategy. You need to emphasise them this time." She warned Joe.
Joe did a long analysis with Gus. Mikhail's style of fighting was often to break the mood of his opponents, forcing them to make mistakes. Joe had to prove how resistant he was to such mind games. In training, they focussed on improving both his physical and mental stamina. Gus said, "Mikhail will target the weaknesses of a fighter like you. We'll rely on your speed, but it's important that you stay calm."
And finally, the big match between Joe and Mikhail arrived. All eyes were on the ring. Both fighters were ready, but Joe had something more in his eyes. He had to defeat not only Mikhail, but also his own inner fears and weaknesses.
The first round started much tougher than expected. Mikhail was moving in a cold-blooded manner. His every move was as if he was anticipating Joe's next move. Joe quickly swung his right and left arms, but each time Mikhail's defence was perfect. 'Come on Joe, you can do it!' shouted Lena from the corner. Joe heard Lena's voice, and for a moment he felt uplifted. But Mikhail was starting to break him down.
'You're slowing down, Joe,' Mikhail said coldly. 'The Storm King will slowly destroy you.'
Joe was furious. He tried to gather his wits so as not to come under Mikhail's psychological pressure. But each time, Mikhail made a move on him, forcing him to respond. Joe wanted to respond physically, but he was struggling mentally.
At one point, Mikhail threw a left hook at Joe. Joe parried it, but Mikhail's right cross wrapped around his head and threw Joe off balance. As he slowly started to step back, Mikhail said, 'You think you can take me? You're young, you're inexperienced.'
Those words echoed in Joe's head. Mikhail's every move continued to challenge him both physically and mentally. But Joe realised something: The more Mikhail pressed, the more potential Joe had to become stronger.
As the second round began, Joe was more aware. He decided to implement his own strategy to avoid Mikhail's tricks. In this round, he was patient, keeping his guard tight, waiting for Mikhail's weakness to be exposed. Mikhail tried to push Joe repeatedly, but Joe was able to move quickly and strategically. 'I don't have time to play with you,' Joe shouted. "I have another power inside me, Storm King. You will not limit my speed to your strategies!"
Mikhail smiled wryly. "Really? Come on, let's see."
In the second round, Mikhail began to be more careful this time. Joe, however, was countering his movements with a much harder and faster combination. The first left jab hit Mikhail in the face, followed by a quick right hook that knocked Mikhail out cold. The crowd filled the air with applause. Mikhail staggered for a moment, but quickly recovered and strengthened his defence.
Joe was on the verge of victory for a moment, but Mikhail hit a quick left cross and pinned Joe in the corner. Now Joe's endurance was being severely tested. With each blow, he struggled a little bit more. Gus shouted to him in the corner, "Don't give up! Use your speed and strategy, Joe!"
Joe took a gulp of air and regained his mental strength. He started to move again, using his own speed against Mikhail's. Finally, the moment he'd been waiting for. Mikhail made a mistake. Joe spotted the vulnerable area on his left side and quickly executed a Dempsey Turn, targeting Mikhail's weak spot.
Using all his strength, Joe was able to penetrate Mikhail's defences. Mikhail was unable to counter the blow and fell to the floor. The referee starts counting.
One... Two... Three...
Mikhail fell to the ground and slowly opened his eyes. But this time, he was no match for Joe's speed and strategy. He was deeply exhausted, but Joe never gave up. Using his mental strength, he steadfastly pursued victory.
When the referee finished the last point, Joe was declared the winner. The crowd applauded wildly. Mikhail stood up and extended his hand to Joe and said, "Well done, young man. The Storm King is defeated this time."
Joe smiled tiredly, but there was still passion in his eyes. This win was not just a victory for him; it was a big step towards becoming a true leader in the boxing world. Lena, Gus and the rest of his friends were in the corner cheering him on. Joe knew that this victory was not only about boxing, but also about an inner struggle.
