Night had fallen.

However, the Agate Bar in the small town felt different from usual.

Unlike the usual noisy scene, the place was eerily quiet—except for the occasional sound of someone gulping.

At that moment, every man in the bar had his eyes glued to the figure standing at the counter, their gazes filled with infatuation. Meanwhile, the women, though envious, couldn't help but marvel in secret.

A flawless figure. Long, red-brown hair cascading down her back. Even from behind, she exuded an irresistible allure that made one want to embrace her.

Then, she turned around, holding a glass of wine in her hand.

The moment her exquisitely beautiful face was revealed, the entire bar fell into an even deeper silence.

Her seductive aura, combined with her cold expression, was like fire and ice, tormenting the hearts of everyone present.

Finally, someone couldn't resist any longer.

A man picked up his glass and walked over.

"Miss, order anything you'd like. It's on me!"

The speaker was a handsome blond man, his expression brimming with confidence as he waved grandly, flashing what he believed to be a charming smile.

If this woman were truly a woman and not Mac in disguise, he might have entertained the conversation. But Mac simply glanced at the man, curled his lips, and said coldly—

"Scram."

His voice was crisp, clear, and as sharp as the sound of a bell echoing in a frozen land.

The man was momentarily stunned. But instead of getting angry, he actually smiled in admiration.

"What a beautiful voice."

Mac: "…."

So this was the power of beauty?

He had only activated a card ability on a whim, intending to stop by the bar for a drink and see if anything interesting happened.

And sure enough, something interesting had happened. But looking at the way those men were staring at him made him incredibly uncomfortable.

He almost wanted to gouge out their eyes.

Mac muttered to himself, downed the rest of his drink, and prepared to leave.

But just as he turned, the blond man stepped in front of him again, holding his own glass with an infatuated look.

"Gorgeous, I'd do anything for you."

Mac narrowed his eyes. "Anything?"

"Absolutely!"

Seeing the beauty before him show even the slightest hint of interest, the man became even more excited.

Mac stroked his chin thoughtfully before replying seriously, "Then why don't you go get a PhD first?"

With that, he turned swiftly and strode out of the bar.

Behind him, the blond man shouted, "I'll do it! I swear I will!"

Mac's mouth twitched uncontrollably.

There really were all kinds of people in this world.

Once outside, he adjusted his appearance.

As he was now, he would undoubtedly be the center of attention at a ball—far too eye-catching, far too mature. He needed to look a bit more innocent.

After a moment of contemplation, Mac refined his disguise. A card appeared in his hand, and the moment it vanished, he was no longer at the bar but near Clark's school.

The dance was scheduled to take place after dinner. Mac had spent some time at the bar and had calculated the perfect moment to arrive—right before the event ended.

Though the venue would be locked once the dance began, that wasn't exactly an issue for Mac.

Using his skills, he infiltrated the ballroom unnoticed. Stepping out from the shadows of a corner, he casually blended into the crowd, his eyes scanning the dance floor for Clark.

However—

Clark was nowhere to be seen. Instead, wherever Mac passed, pairs of eyes seemed glued to him.

If these kids didn't already have dance partners, they would have definitely rushed over to ask him for a dance.

Ha!

Did you see that?

Mac grinned smugly.

With his help tonight, Clark was bound to be the star of the event. His high school experience would be flawless!

"Hmm?"

At that moment, Mac's steps faltered. His gaze sharpened.

It was Eric.

Right now, Eric was dancing with a girl, holding her close as they whispered to each other. The distance between them was shrinking by the second…

Mac's mouth twitched. He turned away, only for his eyes to widen in shock once more.

It was Charles!

The kid was surrounded by a group of girls, smiling and chatting as if he were the king of the dance floor.

Mac's mouth twitched even harder.

Well then!

Looks like he wouldn't need to worry about finding these two a girlfriend in the future.

Shaking his head, Mac finally spotted Clark.

The young man sat alone in the corner, wearing a perfectly tailored suit. Headphones covered his ears as he silently watched the dancing couples, his face completely devoid of emotion.

He looked utterly out of place—lonely, even.

What's going on?

With Clark's looks and personality, there's no way he should be sitting there alone, right?

Mac murmured to himself and was just about to step forward when—

A man suddenly abandoned his own dance partner and walked over.

"Hey, my name is…"

"Smack!"

Mac slapped the boy's face, shoving him aside before continuing toward Clark.

"Hey! Hey!"

The boy quickly turned back and blocked Mac's path again, sneering. "Don't tell me you're actually planning to dance with that freak?"

"Freak?"

Mac raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, haven't you heard?"

The boy looked at the stunning girl in front of him, puzzled by her ignorance.

Mac shook his head, feigning curiosity. "Care to enlighten me?"

"Hah, of course!" The boy grinned and began spilling everything—how Clark had beaten up other students at school, how he had taken down more than a dozen people on his own, and how he never participated in sports with his classmates.

So… he was afraid of losing control and hurting others?

Mac's heart ached slightly. But what about those fights?

When he asked, the boy smirked and mocked, "Apparently, someone said something about his dad. Ha! Figures—only a freak's father could raise a freak like him."

"Oh, really?"

Mac's smile turned icy as a card flickered into his hand before disappearing.

Skill: Fear.

The very next second, the boy let out a bloodcurdling scream. His eyes widened in sheer terror as if he had seen something horrifying. Stumbling backward, he shrieked and bolted out of the ballroom.

Mac turned back toward Clark and stopped in front of him.

When Clark looked up at him, Mac couldn't help but chuckle inwardly. Outwardly, however, he simply said—

"Would you like to dance with me?"

Clark froze. He hadn't expected anyone—anyone—to actually ask him to dance.

Flustered, he quickly removed his headphones, his hands fidgeting at his sides, unsure of how to respond.

It was clear he had no idea how to handle this.

Watching his reaction, Mac let out a soft sigh.

This kid never spoke about what happened at school. If he hadn't come here tonight…

Without another word, Mac took Clark's hand—just like when he was a child—and led him onto the dance floor. As the gentle melody played, they moved in sync with the music.

It was the final dance of the night.

For a moment, all eyes were on them.

Off to the side, Eric and Charles gaped in shock before breaking into genuine smiles, happy for Clark.

Before long, the song ended, and the two returned to their seats in the corner.

Clark hesitated for a moment before asking, a little nervously, "Um… what's your name?"

Mac barely held back a laugh at Clark's expression.

This silly boy… Don't tell me he's falling in love at first sight?

"…Louise."

The name slipped out effortlessly.

"I'm Clark."

Clark introduced himself earnestly, completely unaware that the person in front of him… was actually his father.

Mac simply nodded, then turned his gaze toward the center of the ballroom.

The dance had officially come to an end. The King and Queen had been chosen, standing proudly on the podium at the front of the dance floor, bathed in the glow of the spotlight. Smiling, they accepted the applause and admiration of their peers.

Then—something completely unexpected happened.

A bucket of red liquid came crashing down from above, drenching the King and Queen in front of everyone.
