The ball was stuck high in the tree. Much, much higher than his hands could read. Raorka looked up in annoyance at the branch which had interrupted his match. He tried jumping up a couple of times, in a vain attempt to reach the ball, but soon was forced to give up.
"Mom!" He called out, his small face scrunched up in frustration. "I can't reach my basketball."
He didn't turn around, but from the noise of shuffling feet, he deduced his mom was coming.
"Yes, dear?" Zoe asked from behind him.
"I can't reach the basketball." Raorka repeated, pointing up. Then he turned to look back at his mother.
But....this was strange. The woman standing behind him had no face. Instead, in place of the face was a tear, as if her face was on a piece of paper that had been torn.
Raorka screamed and stumbled backwards. But instead of falling on the ground, he seemed to be falling in a hole. A big, never-ending hole.....
