She had planned to call him after settling abroad.
As it turned out, Jasper learned about her leaving from Noah.
After their embrace in the airport hall, he gently and carefully released her, mindful of the belly she had hidden under loose clothing.
"So, where do you plan to live from now on?" he asked.
Faced with the person she was most reluctant to leave in the city, she feigned an easygoing demeanor: "Noah and Diana are in the U.S.; I'll visit them first and then decide where I want to go."
"Are you really okay, Rachel?"
She knew he was genuinely worried because no one else cared for her more.
Weary, she smiled at Jasper.
"I can put my work on hold and accompany you to the U.S.," Jasper offered, his gentle tone underscoring his concern.
"Noah will send someone to pick me up at the airport; you don't need to worry," she reassured him with a smile.
