The dust of the abandoned safehouse clung to Emily's skin, the stale air of the crumbling structure weighing heavily on her chest.

She could feel the weight of the situation pressing down on her, every breath a reminder of how far they'd come and how much further they had to go.

Damien was already at the window, his sharp eyes scanning the surrounding area. 

Emily followed his gaze, her hand instinctively resting on her sidearm. 

The familiar cold weight of the weapon was a comfort, though it did little to ease the tight knot of anxiety in her stomach.
