Chapter 59: Into The Fire

The pale light of dawn filtered through the cracks in the dilapidated walls, casting long shadows across the floor of the Resistance outpost. 

Emily lay awake, her mind racing as she listened to the faint sounds of her comrades stirring. 

The day ahead was heavy with uncertainty, each moment carrying the weight of what was to come.

Damien had gone over the plan one last time before they'd settled down for a few hours of rest, but sleep had eluded Emily. 

It wasn't just the anxiety gnawing at her—it was the fear of what would happen if they failed.

She ran a hand through her hair, pushing herself up from the cold floor.

 The room was dim, but she could make out the figures of Yara and a few other Resistance members moving quietly in the corner, preparing their gear. 

The air was thick with the smell of sweat and stale coffee, the remnants of long nights spent planning and fighting.
