Chapter 74:The Chase Begins

The helicopter surged through the night sky, a blur of steel and noise.

 Emily stared out the window, watching the darkness stretch on below them. 

The rail yard had disappeared in the distance, swallowed by the night, but Hale's words still echoed in her mind. "This isn't over." The weight of those words hung heavily in the air.

The rest of the team sat in tense silence, the adrenaline of the escape still coursing through their veins. 

Holt sat across from Emily, his face grim. He hadn't spoken since the extraction, but the look in his eyes said everything.

 He was thinking, calculating the next move, but he knew—just like Emily—that they had barely survived the first wave, Hale wouldn't let them go so easily.

Lena sat a few seats away, her hands clasped tightly in her lap, her eyes staring at the floor. 

She hadn't said a word either, but Emily could feel her tension.
