Anesthesia.
I remember Googling this term once out of sheer curiosity. The result it gave was something like this:
Anesthesia was developed to alleviate the severe pain associated with surgical procedures, enabling patients to undergo operations without the excruciating discomfort that was common before its discovery. Prior to the advent of modern anesthesia, surgeries were performed with minimal pain relief, leading many patients to choose certain death over the agony of surgical intervention.
After reading it, I understood one simple thing: anesthesia makes you unconscious so that you can't feel pain while your body is literally being sliced open.
How wonderful it would have been if this existed in cultivation worlds, too...
Because right now, I am experiencing the worst pain imaginable.
When my mind was stormed with the contents of the manual, it was bad, but still bearable. It only gave me a splitting headache. But when I received the depths of the manual's coded language—the hidden knowledge within—it became unbearable.
How did I suddenly comprehend this information when I hadn't even attempted to? My system answered this question.
Apparently, when I received the manual's contents, my mind began comprehending it on its own. I didn't know my brain was even capable of this. As my mind worked through the knowledge, my Aspectual Body, which I received from the system, was triggered. Combined with Jiang Chen's natural heavenly talent, it reached the state of enlightenment.
This enlightenment provided me with the decoded knowledge from the manual. I fell into a trance-like state. My mind was working so fast, it felt like I had ten minds instead of one.
In this state of enlightenment, while I absorbed the manual's information, something extraordinary happened: a lotus cocoon formed around me.
This is the First Stage of Enlightenment. I didn't learn this from the system. No, this came from my own memory—or should i say Jiang Chen's memory. It turns out Jiang Chen had experienced this stage before. That's how talented he was.
As I floated in the sky, encased in this heavenly lotus, my Aspect of Fire and Aspect of Absorption were suddenly triggered. My best guess is that as the Aspects are related to the Dao, which in turn is connected to the heavens and since this enlightenment is a gift from the heavens, it must have resonated with my Aspects like wasn't there a rule I my word that If A=B and B=C then A=C ,yeah something like that....
I'll have to discuss this with my master. She might know more about it.
For now, all I knew was that I was floating high above the ground, cocooned in the lotus. Thousands of roots extended from the lotus, connecting it to the surface of the realm below. I didn't understand what was happening at first, but then I saw glowing red orbs—pulsating balls of energy—being drawn from the realm's surface and absorbed into the lotus.
My master had told me that this realm contains Origin Flames, the mother of all flames. Tempering oneself in these flames would make the body adaptable to any fire. I suspect that my Aspect of Absorption was responsible for the roots extracting the realm's origin energy, just like tree roots absorbing nutrients from the soil.
The pulsating red orbs were absorbed by the lotus petals, which began forming vein-like circuits across their surface. The veins were deep crimson red and pulsated like living blood vessels. These veins spread from the lotus to my toes, then climbed my legs, stomach, chest, shoulders, arms, and finally my neck and head.
The energy flowed into my entire body, circulating through every organ, meridian, and vein. My body started turning red from the overwhelming heat.
As this happened, the information I had comprehended from the manual emerged from my forehead, between my eyebrows, in the form of golden letters. At first, the letters revolved around me, but as more appeared—hundreds of thousands of them—they began orbiting the lotus.
If I were in the audience watching this alongside my master, I would have thought the scene was breathtaking. Hundreds of golden letters swirling around a pink lotus with deep crimson pulsating veins... It would have looked like a scene straight out of a donghua.
But I wasn't an observer. I was the one experiencing it.
I don't know how, but I could sense everything happening around me. Maybe I had opened my third eye? Who knows?
The golden letters, which represented the manual's decoded knowledge, seemed to attract the manual itself. The manual floated to the tip of the lotus, becoming the focal point of the entire phenomenon. The letters sped up, revolving around the lotus and the manual at a mind-boggling pace. The speed was so great that typhoons began forming in the realm, carrying searing heat that felt like it could burn the world itself.
As the lotus veins pulsed in response to the letters' movements, it began absorbing the origin fire essence from the realm at an alarming rate. The heat generated by the lotus became so intense that it caught fire, burning with a brilliant glow.
At this point, the manual opened.
One by one, its pages disintegrated in the flames until only a single golden-red viscous drop remained. It looked like blood—a divine blood drop.
The blood drop fell onto the lotus's tip and divided into four parts, each part spreading to one of the lotus petals. From there, the golden-red liquid created a new veins like structure in the all four petals of the lotus .This veins soon spread into my body, from toes to legs and then stomach then neck and then head .This pulsating golden veins are circulating the golden red blood drop extracted or gained from the manual.
Now, my body contained two distinct vein systems:
The deep crimson veins, pulsating with the origin fire essence.
The golden veins, pulsating with the divine golden energy of the manual.
I didn't know what this divine energy was at the time.
But I would soon find out.
And that's when I finally understood the true terror of Body Cultivation.
