A Day In His Life Part 1

Two days later, Beau Langley was driving his sister's car, following the directions to the address Lanet had sent him.

Am I a fool for driving two hours just to see a man I just met? he thought to himself. With only thirty minutes left to his destination, he couldn't stop questioning whether this wasn't too extreme. After all, Lanet was still practically a stranger. A stranger that I let stay in my house for a week. They were both foolish.

As he continued, the scenery around him changed, and he found himself entering the most upscale neighborhood he had ever seen. The area looked like something between a hamlet and a village, with big, rustic mansions dotting the landscape.

Neatly trimmed lawns were bordered by colorful flower bushes on both sides of the road, and at the upcoming roundabout stood a grand fountain, its cascading water sparkling in the sunlight. "This place is a beauty," he murmured to himself, impressed.

A few minutes later, Beau arrived at a large, ornate gate. A uniformed guard opened it with a polite wave, not asking a single question.

"Thank you," Beau called out with a smile. Good thing I'm not here to steal anything, he thought. That would have been way too easy.

Driving through the gates, a stunning old-fashioned mansion came into view. The structure was majestic, its charm enhanced by the vintage elegant design. Beau parked the car and made his way to the massive front door.

For a moment, he stood there, unsure of what to do. "I thought he said there would be a butler waiting for me," he sighed looking around.

Just as he was about to ring the doorbell, the door creaked open.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, sir. Please, come on in," an older man with a serious expression greeted him, stepping aside to let him in.

Beau nodded and stepped inside, his eyes widening as he took in the interior. The mansion was squeaky clean, with an air of understated luxury. Vintage blended seamlessly with modern touches, creating a space that felt intimate and warm.

Beau glanced around, marveling at the details of the mansion. Wow. This man has taste.

"Shall I get you anything, Mr. Langley?" the butler asked, he was still wearing a stern expression. Beau couldn't help but wonder if that severe look was his natural demeanor or if it was reserved just for guests like him.

Tilting his head curiously, Beau replied, "Lanet told me he'd arrive around lunchtime. Can I rest somewhere while I wait?"

Before the butler could respond, a woman approached with a small, polite smile and handed him a fruit platter.

"Of course," the butler said, gesturing for Beau to follow. "If you will, please come with me."

Beau trailed behind, feeling like an important, wealthy guest as he was led into a stunning living area.

"Feel free to move around if you'd like to explore. And here are some snacks," the butler placed the fruit platter on a polished wooden table. He handed Beau a small device that resembled a pager. "I'm just a button away if you need me."

"Thank you, sir," Beau replied with a warm smile. For a moment, the butler's stoic expression faltered, replaced by a brief flicker of surprise, but he quickly regained his composure and excused himself.

Beau sank onto the plush couch, stretching out and propping his feet up as he picked up a thin slice of apple from the fruit platter. Nibbling on it, he glanced around, soaking in the quiet grandeur of the space.

Beau didn't know when or how he had fallen asleep, but sometime later, he was startled awake by the sensation of someone lifting his feet from the couch.

"Gosh, Lanet, don't scare me like that," Beau exclaimed, sitting up slightly.

Lanet sat on the couch beside him, carefully placing Beau's feet on his lap. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. I didn't think you'd be asleep with an apple in your hand."

"Oh," Beau glanced at the apple in his hand, which had started to brown. Embarrassed, he placed it back on the plate.

There was a brief silence before Lanet spoke again. "I'm happy you're here, Beau. I never thought you'd actually come."

Beau looked at Lanet closely, noticing the dark circles under his eyes and the weariness in his expression. Lanet's eyes fluttered shut momentarily before he forced them open again, clearly struggling to stay awake.

"You look exhausted. Are you sure it was okay for me to come here? I could've let you rest or something," Beau said, his voice filled with concern.

"Should I say it again?" Lanet replied with a soft smile. "I'm happy you're here, Beau." He leaned forward and planted a quick, gentle kiss on Beau's lips.

"How about you lay on me while we talk?" Beau suggested, shifting his position on the couch. He leaned down to help Lanet out of his shoes. Lanet obliged, stretching out and resting his head on Beau's lap.

"Better?" Beau asked as he began to comb his fingers gently through Lanet's hair.

"Much better," Lanet sighed, his body relaxing against Beau's.

"So, what's this place?" Beau asked, his fingers still gliding softly through Lanet's dark strands

"It's my home," Lanet answered simply.

"Oh, I really thought you lived in the penthouse," Beau raised an eyebrow. This was a man who had spent over 300 million at an auction—why was he even surprised?

"I do, when I need to be closer to work or events, which is most of the time," Lanet sighed.

"It's a very nice home, in a beautiful area," Beau said, glancing around the room appreciatively.

"Thank you... Anyway, I have a few things planned out for us later." Lanet turned to look up at Beau.

Beau chuckled softly. "I hope it doesn't require me to move my body too much. I'm a little tired from the drive."

"Well, since we're both tired, follow me. My bed is more comfortable," Lanet stood up from the couch and extended his hand toward Beau.

At the mention of Lanet's bed, Beau felt his heart do an unexpected little flip. He took Lanet's hand and followed him through the grand house into what he assumed was the master bedroom. The space was luxurious yet minimal, with a massive floor-to-ceiling window offering a stunning view of neatly lined palm trees swaying in the soft breeze outside.

"This place keeps getting better and better," Beau let his gaze wander across the room.

He turned his attention back to Lanet, who was shrugging off his coat and unbuttoning his shirt. Beau's breath caught as Lanet tossed the shirt aside, revealing his toned chest.

"A lot better," He added with a sly grin.
