I couldn't concentrate on anything for the rest of the day. My mind was consumed by thoughts of Elizabeth and the secrets she had hinted at.
What did she know about my mom? And why was she being so cryptic?
I tried to push the thoughts aside, but they lingered in the back of my mind, refusing to be ignored.
As the sun began to set, I knew I had to make a decision. Was I going to meet Elizabeth at the warehouse, or was I going to stay away?
I thought about all the things that could go wrong. Elizabeth could be setting me up, or she could be trying to manipulate me.
But I also thought about all the things that could go right. I could finally learn the truth about my mom, and I could finally get some answers.
In the end, my curiosity got the better of me. I decided to meet Elizabeth at the warehouse.
As I walked to the warehouse, my heart was pounding in my chest. I was scared, but I was also determined.
I arrived at the warehouse just before midnight. The building was abandoned and looked like it had been out of use for years.
I knocked on the door, and a few seconds later, it creaked open. Elizabeth was standing in the doorway, a smile on her face.
"Welcome, Jarad," she said. "I'm glad you decided to come."
I nodded, my eyes scanning the dimly lit warehouse. It was empty, except for a few crates and boxes scattered around the floor.
"So, what's going on?" I asked Elizabeth. "What do you know about my mom?"
Elizabeth smiled again, and this time, there was something sinister in her eyes.
"I know everything about your mom," she said. "And I'm going to tell you. But first, you have to do something for me."
I felt a surge of fear. What did Elizabeth want me to do? And what did she know about my mom?"
I'm not doing anything until you tell me what's going on," I said, trying to sound brave.Elizabeth laughed, a cold, mirthless sound."Oh, Jarad," she said. "You're so predictable. Fine, I'll tell you. But you're not going to like it."
And with that, she began to tell me a story. A story that would change my life forever.
