C45 - Token of Completion

The artifact spiritp of the inheritance was dazzled. The man in front of it had been climbing the obelisks for hours upon hours.

It had been formed from a shard of its master's soul; even so, in the upper world it had never seen a scene so dazzling.

As he climbed yet another obelisk, the root of the Blood Dao, the amazement continued. 'I wonder where he got his aptitude from. He must have stolen it, right?'

Yin Kai continued climbing the obelisks. Like a lean machine, he grinded them until the beam of purity shot from their tips.

With a shout, he mustered his courage. He was on the final obelisk- the Dao of Time.

With a glance to his left, he froze the wave of time qi and allowed the one on the right to sweep over him. He aged slightly, but the bigger wave behind it made him younger again.

Pulling himself close to the obelisk underneath it, he stretched out and reached the top.

It used to be that he would be happy to do it, but that was just it- it felt a little too easy.

The hazy shape of a human cultivator appeared before him. "Greetings, young one. I am the artifact spirit of this inheritance space. I am also a remnant soulshard of its creator. As such, I speak as him."

"My name is Galum Yei. Previously, I was a cultivator in Shade World learning the 3000 Dao. I was teleporting across the world from obelisk to obelisk in order to learn the various dao in order to benefit my inner world."

"As luck would have it, a fight broke out as I entered the portal from Las Domas City."

"The fluctuations from the fight warped the space qi in the portal. As a result, I found my physical body crippled, my cultivation fading, and myself in an unfamiliar world with incomplete dao laws..."

"A man named Gao Ran saved my life and brought me to his sect, the Martial Spirit Temple. He tended to my wounds, but my cultivation continued to leak."

"Before I lost it all, I separated a portion of my small world to create an inheritance as thanks. It contained my understanding of the dao roots of the myriad dao. After leaving on my trip, I was able to learn 2371 of the dao before I was lost."

"I then went to live the rest of my days in a cabin off of the sunset sea."

The projection changed its tone. "This inheritance belongs to the Martial Spirit Temple. From its creation, 159 people have entered it."

"Of those 159, the only noteworthy people to enter were the previous two. After completing approximately a quarter of the trial, their roots were completed. I can only assume that they were otherworldly travellers."

Yin Kai interjected. "Wait, those two cultivators. Was one kinda fat, with a gray beard that he strokes a lot, had a lecherous laugh?"

"And the other, was she somewhat tall, and skinny with auburn hair?"

The artifact spirit chuckled. "Why yes, as a matter of fact. Anyways- as I was saying- it was unfortunate they didn't stick around, because I was built with a contingency- if a cultivator comes along that can complete the entire inheritance space in a single sitting, he can gain control of the inheritance space."

"Oh, is that so?" Yin Kai responded.

"Why yes, of course it is."

"Then I thank the Master Galum Yei."

Yin Kai felt the newly given ownership over the space.

"Phoebe. Devour."

As he was somewhat roughly ejected from the space, he felt a change in the orb and another splitting headache between his brows.

Going downstairs, he reached the elder at the desk. "Thanks for letting me read the books."

"You're welcome."

"I've been gone for a year. Did anything happen between the various elders? Last I heard, elder Mo imprisoned elder Ji and elder Ke, and the sect master and second elder were in seclusion."

"No, it is still the same." The new library elder replied. "That being said, elder Ji and elder Ke will be released in half a year to return to their duties."

"Thank you, elder."

"Well, in the meantime, kid, take this with you to meet with the guy waiting outside your house." The elder slipped him a purple Martial Spirit Temple acolyte token.

"En."
