Xia Zhi called out too loudly, rice grains from her mouth spraying out, a few landing on He Jinnan's face.
He Jinnan's eyebrows slightly furrowed, he raised his hand to remove the rice grains, wiping them onto a napkin.
"Don't get agitated, okay? Just think of me as a son of a bitch. I've said I won't use the child, I'll protect him. Why won't you believe me?"
"Because you're not worthy of my trust!" Xia Zhi said angrily, "You're too cunning. I and the child would be sold by you and still have to count money for you!"
He Jinnan let out a bitter laugh, "That won't happen, not ever again."
While saying this, he picked up a mouthful of vegetables and brought them to her lips.
Xia Zhi turned her head away, murmuring, "I'm full!"
"Are you really full? Have a bit more," he urged her as if nothing were amiss.
Xia Zhi didn't respond; she leaned back and closed her eyes.
