Back in the car, He Jinnan couldn't wait to open the ring box, took her hand, and slid the diamond ring onto her left ring finger.
"If you meet a new guy, show him your left hand first," He Jinnan teased her.
Xia Zhi burst into laughter, "Am I sick or something?"
Holding onto her hand, He Jinnan gazed at it contentedly, about to clasp it in his own, but Xia Zhi suddenly pulled away.
"Enough already," she said, putting on a stern face to mask her shy panic. "You've held this hand plenty tonight; let's call it quits."
He Jinnan laughed and leaned in to whisper in her ear, "Wife, don't you think it's quite nice? It strengthens the bond between husband and wife."
The warm breath tickled her ear, as did a similar sensation in her heart.
Xia Zhi pushed his head away without a word.
He Jinnan, pushed aside, looked at her blushing ears and touched his nose with a smile.
The day had been, all in all, not bad.
