Guan Yi saw Wen Zhan and politely extended his hand to greet the group's boss, who was famously protective of his wife and overtly romantic: "President Wen, hello. I'm Guan Yi. Apologies for being late."
Though he was usually cocky on his own turf, he knew better here and adopted a more restrained and humble demeanor.
Wen Zhan stood up and shook his hand. "Welcome, Mr. Guan."
Guan Yi then glanced at Mu Wanqing. Ordinarily, he'd exchange a symbolic handshake, but he retracted his hand, simply nodding with a polite smile. "Mrs. Wen, hello."
Mu Wanqing lifted her hand quickly and gestured, "Oh no, Mr. Guan, you've misunderstood. I—"
Before she could finish her sentence, Wen Zhan gracefully gestured towards Guan Yi and said, "Please, have a seat."
Mu Wanqing stared speechlessly at him—he had done it on purpose!
The restaurant had an elegant, traditional Chinese loft-style design.
