Timothy Zimmerman's heart skipped a beat.
It's over!
He had just met Sienna Summers for the first time, which made him lapse for a moment.
Moreover, professional habit made him blurt out the words "Director Brown."
Faced with Sienna Summers's puzzled gaze, Timothy Zimmerman, relying on his strong adaptability, maintained his composure.
"Yes, Richard and I are good buddies, and he's currently entertaining our boss, so when the kids said you weren't great at cooking, he asked me to bring some food over."
The mention of "not great at cooking" made Sienna Summers's pretty face flush with embarrassment, but that caused her to overlook Timothy Zimmerman's earlier slip of the tongue.
Without guessing, she knew it must have been her children who had complained to her flash-marriage husband.
How embarrassing, to lose face all the way to the Pacific Ocean!
"Mr. Zimmerman, thank you for the trouble."
"No problem, you all must be hungry, go ahead and eat."
Seeing that Sienna Summers wasn't suspicious, Timothy Zimmerman breathed a sigh of relief.
Thankfully, his boss had another name that sounded similar to Director Brown.
Otherwise, how would he have explained himself!
Sienna Summers glanced at the several large bags Timothy Zimmerman had placed on the dining table.
On one of the bags was the logo of Elegant Kitchen.
She knew that this was an upscale private kitchen, and the food there was very expensive.
"Mr. Zimmerman, is Richard entertaining your boss at Elegant Kitchen?"
"Yes. Young... Madam, if there's nothing else, I'll be leaving first."
He nearly let another slip!
Timothy Zimmerman's mouth twitched.
It seemed he needed to spend some more time getting used to his boss's new identity!
"Alright, Mr. Zimmerman, thank you."
"You're welcome, from now on just call me Timothy."
"Okay."
After seeing Timothy Zimmerman out and closing the door, Sienna Summers heard her children's calls.
"Mommy, come and eat quickly."
Eleanor and Mia called out to Sienna Summers.
Sienna Summers looked at the three little ones and, remembering how they had ratted her out, purposely put on a stern face.
"One shouldn't expose others' flaws; you three little rascals better not undermine mommy in front of others again, understand?"
The three little ones exchanged glances.
Eleanor: "But Mommy, the food you make really tastes bad."
Mia: "Yeah, yeah, if we eat pig food, we won't grow tall!"
Pig food!
The children thought her cooking was like pig food!
Sienna Summers's face struggled to maintain composure.
"Is it that exaggerated?"
"Yes!"
The two little girls crisply spoke up, not sparing a bit of face for their mother.
"Little sister, you shouldn't describe Mommy's cooking like that."
Zach Summers's young voice chimed in.
Ah, her son was the understanding one!
Just as Sienna Summers was about to praise her son, he unexpectedly added another comment.
"Mommy's cooking is a little better than pig food."
A little better!
That wasn't far from pig food at all!
Sienna Summers took a deep breath.
Well, they were her own flesh and blood, no need to get angry!
"Mommy, it's okay if you can't cook. Everyone has their strengths. When God closes a door, he opens a window for you. You might not be able to cook, but you design beautifully, you're a girl who does great things!"
Seeing Sienna Summers's displeased expression, Zach Summers quickly added another line.
"Yep yep, the jewelry Mommy makes is all bling bling, really pretty!" Eleanor said.
"Mommy, after we eat, we'll help you string the beads," Mia offered.
Sienna Summers was once again moved by her three little ones.
She decided to forgive the little rascals for their disdain.
"Don't worry, mommy will definitely learn how to cook!"
Zach Summers: "..."
They were desperate to praise Mommy just so she would give up the idea of cooking.
Why couldn't Mommy let it go!
Sienna Summers let the children eat first, then hesitated for a moment before sending a message to Jasper Brown.
"Sorry for the bother. How much for the food? I'll transfer it to you?"
This meal must be expensive!
Although she appreciated her flash-marriage husband for ordering takeout, she really felt the pinch!
Elegant Kitchen.
Jasper Brown glanced at his phone, took a swig of alcohol, and ignored her.
Soon, Timothy Zimmerman who had delivered the meal, returned.
"Director Brown, all the food has been sent over."
Jasper Brown hummed indifferently, still silent.
At that moment, his phone on the table rang again.
Timothy Zimmerman glanced at it and saw that it was a call from the elder of the Brown Family.
He handed the phone to Jasper Brown.
Jasper Brown answered, "Hello?"
"Brat, did you really go and get registered?"
An old voice came through the line, tinged with disbelief.
Jasper Brown's eyebrows lifted slightly, his tone nonchalant, "If not?"
"That Sienna Summers, she has three children?" The elder's breath was somewhat heavy.
Jasper Brown fiddled with the lighter in his hand and hummed faintly in response.
"Brat, are you trying to piss me off on purpose? With so many women out there, why did you have to find one with baggage?"
Jasper Brown shifted his position, his voice still lazy.
"Do you still remember what you told me this morning?"
"What?"
"Any woman will do!"
The elder choked, "I did say that, but..."
"Alright, I'm busy, going to hang up now."
Jasper Brown ended the call outright.
Listening in on the side, Timothy Zimmerman didn't need to think twice to realize that the call from the elder Brown was meant to question the president.
Looking at the man's strikingly handsome face, he was profoundly puzzled.
Their president was a high and mighty paragon of success.
Finding a woman of equal family background would have been a piece of cake.
So why did he choose a down-and-out rich girl instead?
And with three children at that!
She didn't even know how to cook!
What did the boss see in her?
Was it because she was pretty?
But there were too many pretty girls in the world!
The boss's thoughts were truly inscrutable!
Jasper Brown socialized and then returned to the company to attend to official business.
In the evening, he rubbed his throbbing temples and took a brief rest.
The clouds at the edge of the sky gradually drifted away, as dusk approached.
Jasper Brown's dark eyes looked off into the distance, his good-looking brows slightly raised at some thought.
It was almost time for dinner, and his flash-marriage wife couldn't cook, what were they going to eat tonight?
At this moment.
Sienna Summers was at home in the dining room working on jewelry.
The dining table was covered with little objects and crafting tools.
Three children were around her, earnestly helping her thread beads.
Although she had been staying at home with the children for years, she would also make some handcrafted custom jewelry during her free time and sell it on her social media.
Business couldn't be said to be booming, but she had a fair number of orders.
Her clever designs and beautiful jewelry, often accompanied by small pendants as gifts, ensured she had many returning customers.
The small trinkets the children were helping to make were the gifts she planned to give to her customers.
"Mummy, look, I finished the keychain!"
"Mummy, I'm done too!"
The two little girls held up their completed keychains, showing them off in front of Sienna Summers as if they were treasures.
"Wow, such good work, little sisters!" Sienna Summers lavished them with praise.
But Zach Summers had a serious little face as he took over the handcrafted items from his sisters, inspecting them solemnly.
"The cords are tied a bit crooked. Mummy, you shouldn't just blindly praise them. You need to be realistic for them to improve."
Eleanor furrowed her small brows and pouted, "Brother, you're being too strict!"
"Mhmm, too strict, indeed!" Mia nodded in agreement.
Zach Summers picked up a set of small pendants he had strung.
"Look at mine. Without comparison, there's no hurt feelings. You need to learn humility!"
Eleanor humphed, "Mum also says that we should be modest and not arrogant!"
"I'm stating facts, I'm not being arrogant."
"But you are!"
"Right, brother being so smart is bad!"
As Sienna Summers listened to their childish banter, she couldn't help but laugh.
With the company of her children, even the heaviest of worries seemed to disappear.
Just then, the door opened—Jasper Brown was home.
