Wei Lai left with Cheng Qiaobei. In the elevator, Wei Lai said,
"Sending a girl to the police station, isn't that a bit too much?"
Cheng Qiaobei's indifferent gaze shifted over, and Wei Lai immediately realized she had said the wrong thing.
She explained, "I didn't mean anything else, just thought she's young, maybe we could give her a chance."
Cheng Qiaobei lowered his gaze and said, "Don't judge people by appearances. From a distance, everyone seems kind, but once you see through, you should know not everyone is kind. Telling a lie once might be a timid disguise, but what about the second time, the third time? Lying is human nature. Oftentimes, we can't even be honest with ourselves. She has lied too many times, repeatedly trying to deceive us with lies not because she feels guilty for knowing she did wrong, but to get out of the situation at hand."
Wei Lai nodded, "You gave her a chance. If she didn't take it, that's her problem."
