"Uncle has helped me a lot. What's wrong with me treating him to a meal? You can parade your ex-girlfriend around town; why can't I treat Uncle to dinner?"
"I was there to talk business!"
Edward Harper retorted angrily, which reminded him of the man in the private room,
"What's going on with you and Adam Duncan? Using Bella as an excuse to flirt with men?"
The phrase "flirt with men" made Clara's eyes turn red. She knew this man was jealous, but did he have to say such hurtful things even in his jealousy?
She hadn't flirted with anyone; her heart was solely for this damn man in front of her.
Countless times he'd messed things up for her, and Clara felt incredibly wronged.
"Edward Harper, on what grounds do you speak to me like this?"
Edward looked at her aggrieved expression and realized he'd gone too far with his words.
"Don't associate with him."
He tossed out this remark and returned to the driver's seat.
